+ RHP Eli Hall (Noblesville): I caught Hall in an early season scrimmage, one of the top uncommitted juniors in the state. A strong, 6-foot-2, 210-pound right-hander, he operates from a simple, stretch-only delivery with a clean, full-circle arm swing. He worked 89–91 mph and touched 92 in a five-batter look, showing feel to locate a fastball that featured some cut. His go-to secondary was a 78–80 mph slider with sweep and some depth, generating swings and misses. He also flashed an 88 mph cutter once that tunneled well off the fastball. Hall did not turn to the changeup in this outing, as he continues to develop feel for the pitch. He punched out three of the five hitters he faced, operating with a low-pulse demeanor throughout. Hall has allowed just 2 earned runs in 14 innings pitched early on this spring with 21 strikeouts and just 5 walks. With a strike-throwing track record and quality stuff, Hall continues to solidify himself as a high-follow arm in the 2027 class.
Strong, broad-shouldered frame at 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame. Simple, athletic moves out of a stretch-only look. Slight open toe at land. Longer, full arm stroke. Pitched at 90-91 with a cut/ride heater that he showed immense feel for, 86-88 cutter tunnels off it perfectly & has a chance to be a weapon. Cutter has borderline-slider sweep at that velocity, and the slider has both sharp sweep and depth at 78-81 while spinning in the 2500s on average. The ability to get to the glove-side on three planes creates a quality mix to attack both RH and LH hitters with, and he also showed a change that was inconsistent in this look but has been at least average in the past. Some reliever risk, but the overall floor he provides is high.
My favorite prospect of the event was '27 RHP Eli Hall (Noblesville). Our staff was super impressed with the development that Hall has made since looks last season, now establishing himself amongst some of the top right-handed arms that our staff has identified in a talented freshman class. There is room for growth within an athletic, 6-foot, 175 pound frame and his fastball worked up to 86 mph, sitting 83-85. The fastball works with above average carry (16"+ IVB) and is complimented by an array of off-speed offerings that he showed the ability to command. The breaking ball shows slurvey shape at 69-70 mph with two-plane break, a pitch that has a chance to turn into an out-pitch with continued development. Hall showed an upper-70s change with arm side sink and run, while also flashing a cutter at 76-78 mph with late sweep. The stuff is advanced for the age, but my favorite part about his bullpen was his ability to consistently get in the strike zone, a trait that will allow him to have in-game success. Hall repeats a simple, stretch-only delivery and his ability to create hip-to-shoulder separation allows a quick arm to accelerate to a high 3/4 release point. Indiana's 2027 class continues to get deeper and deeper the more prospects we see, and Hall's performance this weekend should shoot him up the rankings list when we update again.
