MWFG 8/16/13:  RHP from Franklin, might have been the most impressive arm for team Indiana. Giles continues to increase velocity up to 88 at the Futures Games. Combining the velocity increase with the plus ability to pitch and Giles is not so quietly becoming a very sought after pitcher. Giles throws a filthy slider that is his go to out pitch. He gets a lot of swing and miss with it. Rumors were Giles was up to 91 in Joplin earlier this summer. If he is seen at that velocity and combines his present pitch ability, he will be able to pick his school come next summer.

2/23/13: Giles is 6-foot, 173 pounds with an upper level arm in the 2015 class. Works from a ¾ arm action with an easy, clean arm action. His repeatable fastball sits 85-86 with run. Giles threw two different breaking balls. The first was more of a 11/5 shape and the other a harder slider type pitch. The harder breaking ball was his better pitch. He threw both for strikes consistently. Change-up is still in the developmental stages and lacks arm speed. Overall, Giles should expect a velocity jump this spring and will be a great addition to Franklin’s rotation. He is a top 10 right handed pitcher in the state.

In the field uses a long arm action and is over the top at 84 mph with carry.  Showcased soft hands and fluid footwork.  Has an advanced feel for the position with the ability to pick it.  Solid defensive actions with athleticism.  At the plate starts open with a smooth load.  Uses a short stride with good use of his lower half.  Displays quick bat speed with a solid approach.  Gets to extension using a short path to the baseball.  Shows some projectable pop and gap to gap power.  Barrels up most balls with hard contact.

10/2012: Giles is a 6-foot, 155 pound freshman, with tons of projectablity. On the mound his arm is loose and shows a fastball at 83-84 mph. He shows two plus off speed pitches that he throws consistently for a strike; a 71-73 mph breaking ball and 65-67 mph knuckle ball. For a freshman he shows an advanced knowledge of how to pitch. His delivery is smooth; he stays behind the ball, and is effortless in everything he does. He is one of the top 2015 arms in the state. Defensively, Giles shows good actions both from the OF and IF, with a strong arm from both positions at 80-85 mph. At the plate he displays an open stance with an inside out swing. He gets to extension well on balls on the outside 1/3 of the plate, producing line drives up the middle to the right side. Giles is a high follow in the 2015 class. 7.25 60 (in rain).
