The top player in the class, SS Isaiah Snavely, turned in a complete day and his showing was reflective of the prospect he is. It's premium athleticism at 6-foot-3, 195-pounds with a 6.5 60-time and a left-handed stroke that jumps at you. While it wasn't his most complete batting practice round, he flashed the high-end hand & bat speed that has him regarded so high nationally. On the infield, the Wake Forest recruit looked the part of a lock to stay on the infield at the pro level with rangy feet, sure hands, and the ability to use multiple slots. He was 92 across and carried it from the 6-hole well.
Frame & Tools: 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, wiry with some physicality blossoming and room for more strength. Future plus runner (6.67), with plus raw arm strength (94 mph), present above average bat speed (75 mph), and above average bat strength (101 exit). Will stick on the dirt with a chance to blossom into a dynamic power/speed profile. Summation: Snavely keeps grabbing helium and turned in another off-the-charts performance at the All-State. The toolset jumps out at you now that he's starting to add strength and fill out his lengthy frame. Offensively the hands are electric and are his biggest present day strength, and he is developing power in his left-handed stroke that could end up being another tool for the 6-foot-3, 190 pounder when it is all said and done. On the dirt he has the hands and athleticism to stick there with the aforementioned loud raw arm strength allowing for left-side projections. There is an aggressive nature that Snavely brings to the game that plays the tools even higher on the diamond, and there is elite level upside as he continues to polish.
Snavely is an exciting young shortstop that I am extremely high on after his performance at the All-State. The 6-foot, 170 pounder has one of the purest swings in the class - using a slow-controlled tempo and holding a coiled back hip into heel strike. This allows for a well-sequenced swing, and the bat whips through the hitting zone with effortless intent. The left-handed hitting shortstop turned in a solid run time for the class (7.07) and also showed above average arm strength, with infield actions that suggest he could be a long-term SS. Snavely will be a riser in our next rankings update and will be a priority follow within the freshman class.
‘27 SS Isaiah Snavely (Fort Wayne Snider HS) showed off a smooth left-handed stroke, one of my favorite swings that I have seen thus far from an Indiana 2027. The athletic, 5-foot-10, 155 pound LHH SS coils into the back hip to control his forward move, creates linear stretch, turns the barrel to get on-plane deep in the zone, and hits against a firm front leg to create barrel whip out front.
