Jayden Kieler, Leo Junior/Senior High School (IN), 2027 Butler
Positional Profile: RHP/1B Physical Frame with the delivery showing a little bit more polish than last fall appearance at the state games. Higher lift with a big hip coil - uncoils with some power to a square land. Downhill shoulders. Clean compact arm swing. Lower slot more of a mid three-quarter slot. His ability to get down the mound plays up a fast ball that was in the upper 80s. Short slider shows real flashes. Change up as upside. Quality progression from the Butler commit.
Body: 6-5, 220-pounds.
Arm Action: RH
FB: T89, 88-89 mph. T2312, 2104 average rpm.
SL: 75-77 mph. T2209, 2113 average rpm.
CH: 80-82 mph. T2054, 1879 average rpm.
Kieler came out with something to prove, and it was evident in the mound presence that he brought while looking to embarrass the opposition with his power stuff. Imposing with the build of a TE at 6-foot-5, 230-pounds, Kieler went right at hitters while pitching at 86-89, and touching 90 a couple of times in his first frame. He extended down the mound well to mitigate average heater properties, while mixing effectively with a mid-70s sweeper that kept hitters off balance. The SL could sharpen a touch, but the two-pitch mix he shows presently is more than enough to beat good hitters. The control was the best that I've seen of Kieler to date, a very positive trend, and he profiles best as a back-end bullpen piece at the next level.
Big, physical frame at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds - has added strength. Simple, high-intent mover with deep arm action that works uninterrupted. The fastball played at 84-86, touching 87 from a higher slot than his tight, 72-74 mph slider. There is a lot of effort in the operation with best profile now looking as a back-end bullpen piece. Has a chance to throw hard with big upside to the breaking ball. Control seems to be improving, showed average feel in this look.

Positional Profile: RHP/1B
Body: 6-3, 205-pounds. Athletic, projectable build on a large, developed frame.
Hit: RHH. Wide setup with weight prematurely shifted back onto drive leg. Minimal to no load due to weight shift followed by a short, quick hover stride. hands work slightly back and down in time with stride. Head stays steady on the ball. Some bat speed with a line-drive approach on an even plane. 67.7 mph bat speed with 9 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 81.4 mph. 306' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-76 mph. Loose arm action from a 3/4 to s sub 3/4 arm slot. Lots of shoulder separation in throwing mechanics.
Defense: Fundamental footwork off the bag at 1st. Sure hands with an easy exchange.
ATH: 7.71 runner in the 60.
I like the upside that '27 RHP Jayden Kieler (Leo) showed during his bullpen session. A big-bodied, 6-foot-3, 205 pounder that will mature into more strength to improve his overall body composition - Kieler was up to 82 mph on the fastball with plenty left in the tank. The arm works clean with a more compact circle to a 3/4 release point, and he was able to get in the zone with all three of his offerings. Kieler showed a slurvey breaking ball at 72-74 mph, but I liked his fading, 75-77 mph changeup as his best off-speed pitch. The front leg swings open at landing causing a bit of inconsistency, however this is a small mechanical adjustment that is easily fixable and should clean up his overall command and improve his velocity. Kieler shows shades of a younger Jack Grunkemeyer, a current SR signed to Northwestern University, and established himself as a '27 follow after his performance this weekend.
