10/11/15: A 6-foot-2 200 pound left-handed hitting outfielder showcases a fast bat with some pop. Jon hits from a balanced setup with level bat path. Produced line drives to all fields. He ran a 6.81 60 yd dash. From the OF, he has a overtop arm action with above average hands and fluid footwork. On the mound, Jon’s fastball sat 78-81. Breaking ball has 2/8 shape with gradual break. Projects more as an OF/LHH.
2/22/14: 6-foot-2, 180 pound sophomore was 77 across the diamond from 1B. Ran a 7.26 60 at the event. On the mound topped out at 80 mph with the fastball. Pitches from a high 3/4 slot with average arm speed. Arm action is long. Breaking ball lacks identity. At the plate starts closed and displayed average bat speed. Uses a toe tap. Tends to come around the baseball.
2/23/13: 6-foot, 175 pound left handed hitting 1B from Hamilton Southeastern HS. He shows projectable power from the left side with some pop. McGee changes eye levels in his stance, but when he squares up the baseball it really jumps. On the mound throws with a short high arm circle. Delivery is slow deliberate and maintains posture and line. Possesses average arm speed . Breaking ball shows an occasional 1/7 shape with an early break. Change up has arm side run. McGee projects more as hitter.
2/18/13: 6-foot, 175 pound freshman shows quick hands and a loose swing at the plate. Good athleticism in his swing. Uses a toe-tap and loads down. Gets the barrel through the zone. The swing plane is uphill, producing a lot of lift, but good pop. As he works on leveling out his swing plane he projects to have plus power. In the field was 69 mph across the diamond, and showed a good glove at 1B.
