2013 Super 60: Josh Van Meter (Norwell HS, IN) has generated considerable draft buzz entering the spring. The 6-foot, 170-pound left-handed hitter showed solidly across the board despite being in the teeth of basketball season. Currently ranked No. 4 in Indiana’s loaded 2013 class and 17 overall, Van Meter impressed with his advanced bat speed, swing looseness and barrel whip through the zone. It’s apparent that he can flat hit. Defensively, the Illinois State recruit was clocked at 82 mph across the diamond while demonstrating soft hands and fluid footwork. Van Meter, who ran a 6.96 60, has a lanky build with long legs and will undoubtedly fill out in the coming years.

10/8/11: Van Meter is a 5-foot-11 inch, 155 pound shortstop with great athletic ability. In the field he shows a strong arm across the diamond at 83-84 mph. He possesses plus defensive actions, with good range and quick feet. Everything about him says he’s one of the premier shortstops in the 2013 class. At the plate he displays a good base and smooth load, producing a line drive swing with some pop. At the event Van Meter ran a 7.11 sixty, and event best. He is a high follow this upcoming spring. High IQ baseball player just an all around player
