6-foot-1, 191-pound, strong, athletically built, right-handed hitting outfielder. Showed a high-level tool set across the board and emerged as one of the top unsigned seniors in the Midwest. Ran a 6.59 laser-timed 60. Offensively, tall, open setup, high leg-kick stride. Aggressive, powerful swing, quick hands, fluid rhythm, uphill bat path, gap-to-gap approach, registered a 101 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, sure-handed, quick, smooth footwork, plays through the baseball, length in exchange. Advanced arm strength, clocked at 94 mph from the outfield; played accurately with carry. Short arm action, over the top arm slot. Should be a high-follow unsigned senior heading into the spring.
6/11/19
6-foot, 180-pound OF with a 60 time of 6.74. Starts in a tall, open batting stance with a slight bend in his knees; uses bat wave for timing and rhythm; uses high elbow to generate power and stay on top of the ball. Has a straight to the ball swing plane and a high, one-handed finish; 85 mph exit velocity. In OF, gets to the ball quickly; shows speed and athleticism; has a live arm; stays behind ball well; tracks ball efficiently; 85 mph position velocity.
2/16/2019: Max Weller, OF/SS, Chesterton HS, 2020, 6 foot, 178 pounds, ran 6.96, threw 84 mph from the outfield with slow release and really good arm speed. 7/17/18: 2020 OF hits from the right side. Uses slightly crouched open setup in the box. Small leg lift trigger with short stride to contact point. Uphill bat path through the zone to help create leverage from smaller frame. Showed pull side ability and opposite field ability in swing spraying line drives. Bat speed was quick through zone in BP, posted an exit velo of 81. In the OF showed fluid footwork. Exchange was somewhat long with a glove tap used in exchange. Arm strength was average at 79 from the OF. Also ran a 7.26 60.
7/18/17: 5-foot-8, 130 pound sophomore hits from a slightly crouched, closed stance from the right side of the plate. High back elbow, with hands slightly buried at the chest, creates an uphill path to and through the baseball. Middle of the field approach, producing line drives. Uses small toe tap to load weight and hands. Has more in the lower half to generate with better balance and direction. Recorded an exit velo of 68 mph. Defensively, the outfielder ran a 7.82 60 yard dash and threw 73 mph from the outfield. Big front side with a long arm swing and small hook in the back. Tall through release with shoulders working uphill. Ball flight showed some uphill carry.
