Indiana recruit and 2025 Future Gamer, LHP/OF AJ Baggett (Evansville North) highlighted this event with a solid showing. He is a naturally-athletic, 6-foot-2, 180-pounder that uses a simple delivery before working the arm on a shorter path and turning it over to a wide, mid 3/4 slot. The arm works continous and he is able to manipulate the baseball for several shapes. He creates bore on the fastball from lower-slot at 85-88+ for 17" of vert on average, up to 16+ inches of arm-side, and he gets down the mound well for abv avg extension to play it up even further. Spinning north of 2500 on average for a heavy rise + run look, Baggett controls the fastball at an above average clip and gets to upper-80s velocities with moderate effort. The breaking ball is the best pitch in his arsenal, a wide, sweeping offering that spun north-of 2600 RPM in the 72-74 range, and it showed a fastball look out the hand before biting to the gloveside later. To round out a deeper arsenal, he showed both a diving, mid-70s splitter and a 77-78 change that was more of a true runner. The control, and ability to manipulate the baseball, are the present valued traits and it is easy to suggest there is more velocity in the tank. A primary arm, Baggett also looked as the top hitter at this event with 95-plus peak exits and barrel feel from the left side of the dish.

+ Frame: Athletic, wiry, 6-foot-2, 175 pound frame. + Delivery/Arm Action: Simple, stretch-only mover posts w back leg in lift w abv avg hip2shoulder created as he moves down the hill. Shorter stride lands square w upright finish. Loose, shorter arm path with athletic, slingy arm action to low 3/4 deceptive slot. + Stuff: 83-87 fastball ran up to 88, played with heavy arm-side life, 14.6" avg ASR at 2404 avg. spin. Softer, sweeper breaking ball plays at 67-70 mph w 2388 rpm avg., upside if thrown firmer. 74-76 change w flatter break, 69-70 split gets more depth. Avg to abv control. + Summation: Baggett established himself as one of the premier lefties in this class with a high-upside, natural look. He is athletic with a loose arm & he spins the baseball well, combine that with being left-handed, and it becomes a profile that is at a premium. The fastball continues to tick with more left in the tank & the breaking ball has out-pitch upside. He doubles as a sweet swinging left-handed hitter with some strength.

Baggett, a member of Team Indiana at this years Midwest Super Sophomore Games, showed off a sweet left-handed stroke during batting practice with developing barrel strength that led to a peak exit velocity of 93.3 mph. I love the way he coils into his back-side with control before delivering an on-plane barrel that creates hard contact through the middle of the diamond. He shows above average arm strength, and the upside he has as a 6-foot-1 southpaw is also interesting.

Body: 6-1, 165-pounds. Projectable, lanky frame.
Delivery: Works out of stretch primarily. Stays tall with a moderate balance point and a quick, controlled leg lift. Uses long frame to get distance down the mound, tendency to land closed. Shoulders stay compact and even down the slope.
Arm Action: LH. Long swinging arm action from a 3/4 to sub 3/4 arm slot.
FB: T83, 79-81 mph. Ride and Run T2484, 2397 average rpm.
CB: 65-66 mph. Sweeper T2514, 2444 average rpm.
CH: 72-74 mph. Fade and sink T2043, 1859 average rpm.

Body: 6-1, 165-pounds. Projectable, lanky frame.
Hit: LHH. Starts in a shorter stance with feet slightly open. Quick weight shift onto back leg with short front foot stride. Hands start close to body then get separation in load. Head stays steady. Handsy swing, fly ball approach. 64.2 mph bat speed with 12 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 84.1 mph. 312' max distance.
Arm: LH. OF-81 mph. Quick arm action from a sub 3/4 slot.
Defense: Fundamental footwork, steady mover behind the baseball. Sure hands with ball to hand skills.
