+ RHP Chase Gothrup (Harrison): Gothrup is a high-floor righty that I would consider as one of my top bets to be a next-level SP. He lifts in-balance and uses a shorter cross body step that is controlled, and a clean/quick arm follows in a continous manner. He pitched at 87-89 early, and settled at 85-88, with arm-side life and carry on the FB. His breaking ball is a quality offering that he can both land and get chase with; 75-76 mph offering with tight downer break for an 11/5 shape. He showed a 76 mph change that is a usable third, but didn't go to it as often vs a lineup full of RHHs. The polished command, room for strength in an athletic 6-foot-1 ish frame, and pitch mix should allow him to make an instant impact at the college level.

The best execution of the event, along with the easiest velocity, goes to Gothrup. It is a polished delivery with a clean, effortless arm swing on the backside. He pitched at 86-88, touching 89, with flashes of carry and the ability to control it to all quads. Spun the breaking ball at 2500+, a 75-77 mph offering with sharp 2-plane break. Also executed a straight change in the upper-70s. Easy to project the 6-foot-2, 175-pound athletic frame to add more strength. Likely 88-92+ at some point in the future. Easy starter projections.

6-foot-1, 170 pound frame is equally athletic as it is projectable. Well-executed bullpen in this look with a balanced, athletic delivery and polished feel for the zone. 85-86 FB played with carry and complemented two above average offspeed offerings. 72-73 CB plays off the fastball with bite (2500s) and feel to land, also showed a quality change - that he showed feel for - at 76-78. Arm action gets inverted but syncs well. Coming off a big sophomore spring for a successful program.

+ Frame: Projectable, wiry, 6-foot-1, 175 pound frame. + Delivery/Arm Action: Balanced w consistent tempo throughout athletic delivery. Repeats well. Loose, clean arm flips up in-sync w solid arm speed. High 3/4 slot. + Stuff: 84-86 FB w abv avg carry 16" avg & some life w 21-2200 spin. 74-75 slider was one the best at the event, played w true sweep & 2608 avg rpm. 78-79 straight CH. Very solid command ITZ w fastball at 70% & SL @ 60%. + Summation: This was another prospect that I got my first look at during the PAS weekend. I love the repeatability & athleticism in the operation and the fastball comes out w life and control. The slider has future-plus upside w sharp, late spin. The ease of operation screams future starter, especially combined with the other traits present.
