Steiner showed as one of the top arms of the day, looking the part of a prototypical pitching prospect with a 6-foot-5, 200-pound square-shouldered frame. He lifts to a tall balance point with an open land, with plenty of arm strength to power a clean arm to a higher slot. Steiner pitched in the upper-80s with a steeper-look to the high-slot heater, and used a tight, 75-77 mph slider to induce chase. Holding immense upside with a clear path to more velocity, Steiner's frame and arm talent should garner signifcant attention come August.

RHP/IF Finn Steiner, 2028, University: Steiner had about as good of a day as one could have in my look, earning the win on the bump and going 3-for-3 with 2 homers at the dish. It is a projectable, square-shouldered, 6-foot-4, 205-pound frame that looks the part of a prototypical pitching prospect. He uses a tall, even leg lift before swinging to square with an open gate stride that with an open front toe. The fastball worked 86-87 early, was up to 88 and 89, and settled at 84-87 as the outing went on. The fastball control was average to better and set the tunnel for a tight, firm, 79-82 slider that almost played cutter-like at times, but it did flash on occasion with sharp gloveside break. In total, the control was average, but the power two-pitch mix stood out with the profile looking more like a power backend guy than a starter at this point. Offensively, he showed intriguing strength while easily flicking a couple deep home runs. I think there is a path to Steiner getting recruited as a two-way prospect, but I see the highest ceiling on the mound in the long run considering the arm strength, the upside of the slider, and the frame.

Square-shouldered and uber-projectable at 6-foot-4, 200-pounds, Steiner looked like one of the highest-upside arms in the bunch while showing a bit of a tick in his overall stuff and velocities. He gets to a tall lift with a higher hand break in an athletic fashion before a shorter stride lands with a slight open toe. It is a quicker arm that gets to a higher 3/4 slot as the 86-87+ mph fastball plays with life through the zone. The heater had borderline-average control in this look, but the breaking ball took a major step up and was executed well throughout. He spun the slider with true sweep at 25-2600 and it looked the part of a future wipeout at 76-79. The change is a quality offering and played sinker-like at 82-84. Steiner has polished at a notable rate and will remain regarded as one of the top prospects in the bunch with a chance to soar if he hones in control consistently this spring.
6/17/25

Steiner jumped out at check-in with a projectable, 6-foot-3 build that looks the part of a future-workhorse frame. He showed some raw strength in batting practice, but it was his performance on the bump that earned his highest praise. He showed a low-effort, balanced delivery that he was able to repeat at an above average clip. The ball stays moving during a moderate-lengthed arm swing, coming out the hand with ease at 82-84, touching 84.5. His 68-70 CB showed the makings of a future out-pitch with 11/5 shape and some feel for it as well. In total, the upside is what I like best here, and Steiner has a chance to develop into one of the premier arms in the class as he continues to mature.
