8/2/16 - Hinz is a 6-foot-2 220-pound right-handed hitting first baseman and right-handed pitcher in Kansas 2017 class, Drury University commit.  He ran a 7.00 60, one of the top times of the event and a 4.60 home-to-first.  He has a 93 mph exit velo, top RHH velo for the event. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load, controlled leg kick, accelerated and aggressive swing, power to both gaps, solid hard contact during batting practice, doubled off the right center wall in game action.  At first base, 81 mph positional velo, moves well for size, athletic with quick feet, over the top arm slot, accurate throws. On the mound, Hinz was was 84-88 mph, one of the top RHP velos of the event, high number of strikes with three pitches, breaking ball was sharp 11-to-5 curveball, 76 mph, threw one change up in the zone at 75 mph, some arm side sink, big frame with max arm speed, used both sides of the plate, breaking ball created swing and misses, three strikeouts, one walk, two hits, faced seven batters in outing.
2/21/16 - Hinz is a 6-foot-3 210-pound right-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class from St. Thomas Aquinas HS.  He ran a 4.71 home to first and has an exit velo of 96 mph. At the plate, showed power during batting practice using the middle to pull side of cage, takes an aggressive swing, smooth linear load, open to square stride, level path though hitting zone, stays on ball after contact.  On the infield, 78 mph positional velo at 1B, athletic footwork, getting ball quickly, high three quarters release, loose arm action, momentum towards target to throw. On the mound works to a tall balance point, slight tuck, aggressive move to the plate, high three-quarters slot, excellent body control throughout, finishes square. Quick arm. Fastball 85-87 mph, worked down in the zone. Short breaking ball, 74-75 mph. Change-up 72-74 mph. High follow in the Kansas class of 2017, durable-body with present mid-to-upper 80’s velocity.
10/11/15- 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.18 runner. Dive bomb hitter with balance. Gathers/delivers weight well through contact. Shows well above avg. pop in bat when extended through contact. Short path to baseball and stays connected well. Gap to gap approach. 88 mph exit velocity off tee. Solid arm with accuracy across diamond. Avg./ok glove at position. Shows avg. actions around bag. 80 mph arm strength across diamond. Slight tuck and coil in delivery. Lands slightly open to plate. Arm action is clean from high ¾ slot and ball comes out of hand well. Fastball has running life at 86-88 mph. Shows solid feel for 11/5 breaking ball with tight rotation and flashes of depth. Stiff at times with changeup with ok fade.
