1/21/17 - Townsend displayed a fastball from 84-86 mph with a curveball from 70-71 mph and changeup from 78-79, threw a high percentage of strikes and showed ability to repeat a simple delivery.

8/2/16 - Townsend is a 6-foot-1 167-pound right-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 7.08 60 and a 4.62 home-to-first.  He has an 85 mph eixt velo. At the plate, wide stance, short and early stride, no wasted movement, short path to contact, swing produced line drives gap-to-gap in batting practice, singled to left field in game action.  In the outfield, 82 mph positional velo, three quarters release, athletic footwork, works behind the ball and through the catch, clean transfer with mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Townsend has a quick and short arm action, falls to 1B side in finish, tall and lean frame, in line stride, fastball at 80-82 mph, breaking ball has 11-to-5 action, 66-69 mph.
