Works the zone with a quality three-pitch mix, starting with an 86-87 mph fastball from a clean high ¾ slot. Limits spin on an 80-81 mph changeup and is capable of landing a 77-80 mph slider for strikes around the zone with tight shape. Returns as an impact arm for State Fair CC in 2023.
Positional Profile: LHP Polished southpaw that projects on the mound.
Body: 6-foot-2, 178-pounds. Wiry, athletic frame. Projects.
Delivery: Hands rock over head, side step initiates drop/drive type delivery, athletic balance point, strong front side, works closed from target creating deception, lands square, clean mechanics overall.
Arm Action: Long, loose arm action, over-the-top slot.
FB: T80, 78-80 mph. Flashed arm-side run, strikes to both sides of the plate.
CB: 66-68 mph. 1/7 shape, gradual action, depth.
CH: 72-73 mph. Works down in the zone.
Carson is a long and lean 6-foot-1 168-pound left-handed hitting outfielder, left-handed pitcher and first baseman in Kansas' 2021 class. He ran a 4.53 home to first and has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open, controlled leg lift, short stride, level path, swing produced mostly pull to middle of the field line drives. In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, arm work with loose action, small crow hop after catch, works through the ball with smooth tempo, clean exchange, 79 mph positional velocity. At first base, high three quaters arms lot, quick transfer on time with footwork, accurate throws, 72 mph positional velocity. On the mound, smooth delivery, over the top arm slot, loose arm action, ands work over the head with knee lift, in line down the mound, Carson's fastball works 77-78 mph, slight running action, breaking ball at 72-73 mph, 1-to-8 shape, lands for a strike, change up at 67-68 mph, has command to bottom of the zone, throws with fastball arm speed, projection in arm action and build.
