8/6/14 - Karlin is an athletic 5-foot-7, 155-pound left-hand hitting middle infielder.  Balanced set-up at the plate.  Wide, inline stance.  Short, slightly closed stride.  Minimal, smooth hand load.  Short bat path.  Line drive, oppo approach with fluid rhythm.  81 exit velocity, 4.31 home to first base.  Plus athletic actions in the infield, quick hands and feet.  Short high three-quarters arm action.  75 mph throwing velocity, all accurate throws.  Potential plus defender at second base and top of the order hitter at next level.

4/24/14 - Karlin is a 5-foot-5, 145-pound shortstop and two-hole hitter for Lawrence Free State.  His quick hands and feet stood out in the infield.  He also showed a quick release and accurate arm.  At the plate the left-hand hitter has a simple, middle-of-the-field contact approach – he lets the ball get deep and is difficult to strike out (3 K’s in 49 AB’s this year).  Karlin ran 4.40 home-to-1B from the left side.  He plays the game with a lot of energy and confidence.
