6/26/18 - Doty has an athletic build and large frame at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds. He ran a 4.48 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 87 mph. During batting practice, Doty has a balanced set up, quiet load, quick hands, minimal head movement, showed contact to center and left field with some pop. Defensively, Doty has quick, fluid footwork, clean transfers, high ¾ release, positional velo of 73 mph, mostly accurate throws and pop times between 1.93 and 2.10 seconds. On the mound, Doty has a fluid and repeatable delivery, rhythm with hands, deceptive arm action from a high ¾ slot, fastball is heavy with some arm side run, strikes to both sides of the plate, 77-80 mph, curveball is 60-65 mph, sharp bite at times, 10-to-4 shape, throws it for strikes.

11/4/17 - Doty is an athletic and strong 6-foot-3 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pticher in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.50 60 and a 4.52 home to first.  He has an 88 mph exit velocity. At the plate, smooth pre-swing rhythm, quiet load, minimal stride, swing produced solid consistent contact gap to gap, hands generate quick bat whip.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.10 and 2.36-seconds, 73 mph positional velocity, slightly staggered set up in feet, throws from a high three quarters arm slot, flexible and sits low, fluid transfer with on time with feet to throw, treats momentum to throw, mostly accurate throws flashing carry. On the mound, Doty has a high three quarters release, controlled and repeatable delivery, throws with regular effort, in line down the mound, athletic finish, fastball at mostly 78-80 mph, curveball has 11-to-5 shape, gradual and late action, 65-67 mph, has feel for a change up at 67-69 mph, works down in the zone, near fastball arm speed, occasional sinking action.

1/28/17 - Doty is a 6-foot-3 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.05 60, laster timed, and a 4.37 home to first.  He has an exit velo of 85 mph and a tall, lean and loose build that will suggest added strength as he continues to develop.  At the plate,   balanced set up with short stride and minimal hand load, easy to repeat, leverage in lower half, gap-to-gap approach. Behind the plate, pop times between 2.01 and 2.10-seconds, some of the best times of the event, sit low for target, has flexibility for size, quick catch and throw with fluid footwork, high three quarters release, mostly accurate throws, 71 mph positional velo. On the mound, Doty is long-limbed with a projectable pitcher’s frame, high three quarters release, simple and repeatable delivery, compact, throws with regular effort, fastball at 75-78 mph, downhill, curveball has gradual break at 60-65 mph, 11-to-5 shape, change up at 65-68 mph, near fastball arm speed.
