2014 KABC 6A All-State - 2nd Team
2014 Centennial League Pitcher of the Year

4/4/14 - We’ve seen Manhattan’s Jesse Steinbring a number of times and he has always shown a very simple delivery and mid-80’s strikes – although seeing him during his football season in the fall and again in the winter one would think there was another level of sharpness in there.  On Friday, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Class of 2015 right-hander showed just that in throwing a 73-pitch 7-inning perfect game against Topeka HS.  His fastball mostly registered in the 85-86 mph range, topping out at 88 – repeatedly squaring up the catcher for low strikes with it.  He also showed a 71-75 slurve type of breaking ball, with command, shape and stuff to it we had not seen to date.  He’s clearly trending in the right direction.
2/17/14 - Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 180 pounds, Steinbring is a right-hander that throws from a ¾ arm slot.  He has good balance and a very simple, repeatable delivery allowing him to throw down in the zone with ease.  He worked mostly mid-80’s with his fastball but did spike up to 89 once, the top pitching velocity recorded at this event.  His fastball, at times, had hard downward sinking at the bottom of the strike zone and he commanded this pitch well.  His breaking ball has slurve-type action to it at 70-72 and he threw a 76 change-up with arm side run.
10/19/13 - Steinbring has been totally committed to his football season this fall and, therefore, had not pitched in months prior to this camp.  The 6-foot, 180-pound right-hander did just fine despite lacking the work this fall.  He has a simple, balanced delivery with short, quick arm action that makes throwing strikes down in the zone look easy.  His 83-87 mph fastball had late sink at times.  He slowed his arm a bit on his low 70’s breaking ball but showed plus feel for a 74 change-up.  Steinbring is real close to being an elite 2015 pitching prospect.
