2/16/19 – Barnes is 6-foot, 145-pound, left-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2022 class. He ran a 7.19 60 and posted an exit velocity of 75 mph. During hitting evaluations, Barnes starts with an open stance, crouched position, toe tap into load, in line stride quiet hands, smooth stroke, feel for the barrel, remains balanced throughout. Defensively, Barnes has fluid footwork, clean transfers, long arm action, over the top release, strong arm with carry, positional velo of 82 mph, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Barnes has a smooth and repeatable delivery, direction towards target, loose arm action, high three-quarter release, minimal effort, fastball is 73-75 mph, arm side run, occasional depth, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, change up 71-72 mph, near fastball arm speed, curveball is 63-67 mph, around the zone, 10-to-4 shape, late bite, showed a good feel for it in his bullpen. Barnes’ lanky frame, lean build and clean arm action have him being a prospect to look out for as he develops.
