6/20/17 - Smith is a strong 6-foot-1 215-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.37 60 and a 5.07 home to first.  He has a 95 mph exit velo. At the plate, aggressive and swings with effort, takes an aggressive hack, doesn’t get cheated, pull power, quick bat speed, loose hands, open stance, smooth load, accelerates to the ball.  Behind the plate, high three quarters release, aggressive momentum to throw, quick exchange, fluid footwork, 74 mph positional velo, accurate throws.

10/23/16 - Smith is a strong 6-foot 210-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.38 60 and a 4.72 home-to-first.  He has a 96 mph exit velo, top RHH exit velo for the event. At the plate, aggressive swing, hard solid contact during batting practice to the middle of the field, balanced set up, quick and strong hands, has pull side power, singled in game action.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.01 and 2.15-seconds, one of the top pop times for the event, 74 mph positional velo, short over the top release, quick actions, has high energy, momentum through the catch, somewhat accurate throws with carry. On the mound, Smith attacked the zone with fastball and slider, showed an 11-to-5 curveball at 57-62 mph, fastball sat 76-80 mph, some with late cutting action, slider showed late breaking action at 68-70, recorded three strikeouts with no hits and no walks in outing, throws with some effort, over the top release, aggressive down the mound with smooth accelerated rhythm, strong bodied.

1/18/16 - Smith is a 6-foot 195-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas 2019 class.  Smith ran a 4.53 home to first and posted one of the top RHH exit velos of the event at 91 mph. At the plate, has open stance with leg kick, level path, strong and fast hands, aggressive swing, middle to pull approach, power to pull side. Behind the plate, recorded one of the top pop times of the day at 2.01-seconds, consistently between 2.01 and 2.18, 76 mph positional velo, over the top release, gets back side finished to throw, quick catch and release, quick feet, somewhat accurate throws. On the mound, Had one of the top RHP fastball velos on the day at 80 mph, worked fastball at 76-80, over the top release, aggressive down the mound, throws with some effort, classic hands over the head during wind up, in line stride, athletic finish, loose arm action, breaking ball at 57-60, 12-to-6 action, change-up at 64-71 mph, some late sink, down in zone.
