The reigning MAC Pitcher of the Year, Taylor has gotten more physical year-over-year, adding good weight to his lanky frame. At 6-foot-5 with long levers, the righthander repeats his delivery pretty well for a big man and gets good extension to the plate. The deception allows his 91-93/94 mph (2283-2403 spin) fastball to play up a bit, as he showed a keen ability for getting swinging strikes up in the zone. He elicited 11 empty swings on the heater in the short outing, and 14 in total. Thrown at 77-82 mph with big shape, moderate depth and 2127-2293 spin, his breaking ball was difficult to square up. Moreover, he showed feel for turning over an 80-81 mph changeup to lefthanders. Thrown with fastball arm speed and late fade, it flashed above average potential. In what Chippewas skipper Jordan Bischel labeled as a precautionary move due to arm tightness, Taylor was pulled in the fifth inning in his start on Sunday. His status will be monitored this week, but the coach was optimistic that it's a minor issue.
Six-foot-5, 185 pound outfield prospect. At the plate hits out of an upright stance using a leg lift to load. Swings on a downhill plane shifting his weight to his front foot as he makes contact. Exit velocity was 85 MPH. In the outfield fields the ball out in front of his glove side foot shortening his stride as he approaches the ball. Takes a crow hop before throwing out of a 3/4 arm slot. Position velocity was 84 MPH.
Six-foot-4, 170 pound prospect has a long, projectable frame. Lots of room to fill out that frame over the years. In the OF uses a calm approach, fielding the ball on his left leg throwing with ease from a high 3/4 arm angle.
