Bringing a different look to the mound was Notre Dame recruit RHP Chase Van Ameyde (Brother Rice HS, MI). With a near sub slot and crossbody landing the 6-foot-5 lanky righty fired 91-92 fastballs that had up to 23” of horizontal break. He could also spin it with a 79-81 slider at 2300 rpm and subtracted to lefty batters with a 79 changeup.

Two way player with a tall lean frame. Good feel in the box staring in an upright stance showing ability to work all fields. Defensively has good actions projecting at the corners where his arm plays. Threw 89 MPH across infield. Big upside on the mound as well showing multiple arm slots. Sits 86-88 with the fastball throwing it out of over the high 3/4 and side arm slot. Breaking ball is two planed at 72-74. Works with a tighter breaking curve out of 3/4 slot and a sweeping slider out of the low slot. Huge week as a two way and projects well as a hiter and pitcher.

Chase Van Ameyde: SS/RHP, (2024) Brother Rice, MI. 6-foot-4, 180-pound. Smooth projectable during batting practice, Van ameyde had a max exit velocity of 93 mph. Began in a balanced open stance with a controlled load, then used a leg kick. Had a level swing plane, efficient bat speed and high good extension on his finish. Found lots of barrels with loud contact. Line drive approach. Projectable showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 87 mph; has sure hands, a fluid clean exchange, and consistent feet. Uses his glove out front. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.23. Smooth projectable on the mound, used a high ¾ low ¾ arm angle and a longer loose arm action while showing good arm speed. Up-tempo type pitcher and shows easy effort. Has even shoulder with an tall balance point. Lands closed with recoil finish. Curveball (64-65 mph). Produced a fastball that came in at 85-87 mph. (Max spin 2249; Avg 1913).
