2022 Future Games: Team Michigan - Workout/Gameday Notes

The Arms

Ethan Armstrong 3B / RHP / Garden City, MI / 2026

Report: Youngest player on the team but you couldn't tell by his pitching on the mound. Easy, loose arm action with an effortless delivery. Mid 80's FB with a 12/6 breaker in the upper 60's. Showed composure on the mound erasing a leadoff single with a double play ball and then striking out the next 2 hitters faced.

Jason Bedol RHP / North Farmington, MI / 2024

Report: 6 foot righty with projection on the mound. Works the same arm slot consistently with a mid 80's FB and a low 70's breaker. Settled in after an inning on the mound and got outs in his 2nd inning on weak contact by hitters.

Justin Brown RHP / Northville, MI / 2024

Report: Lean frame at 6-2/180 with projection. Upper 80's FB T89 paired with upper 70's curve producing spin rates over 2400 on both pitches.Deceptive change at 80 MPH with low spin rates. High upside arm that is able to hold velo throughout starts.

Carson Custer RHP / 3B / Grand Rapids Christian, MI / 2024

Report: Physically developed right-hander with the makings of a power arm. FB up to 91 keeping hitters off balance with a sharp curve and sweeping slider. Flashed a changeup with good arm speed. Some of the best present stuff out of the 2024 class in Michigan.

Brennan Hill LHP / OF / Grosse Pointe North, MI / 2024

Report: Projectable 6-3 lefty with a lower arm slot that has proven difficult for hitters. Mixes a slider and curve out of the same arm slot and ran the FB up to 88. Changeup thrown with good arm speed looks similar to FB out of hand. Interesting mix of present pitchability and projection with a proven track record on the mound.

The Two-Way Prospects

Parker Brzustewicz 3B / RHP / Orchard Lake St. Marys, MI / 2024

Report: 6-3 frame that oozes projection on the mound. Really good feel for breaking ball working 72-74 with 2300 spin rates and had hitters fooled with the pitch striking out 7 in 3 innings. FB was up to 86 with more velo in the tank as he adds strength.

Aidan Donovan RHP / 1B / Orchard Lake St. Marys Prep, MI / 2024

Report: Two-way player with a wide stance at the plate. Primary pitcher but swings with intent in the box and does not get cheated. Showed some pop with a 94 MPH exit velo and went yard during BP. On the mound has good present stuff that projects for more. Upper 80's FB sat 87-89 with a horizontal breaking curve 73-75 and a changeup 77-78. Kind of prospect who looks the part now with plenty of upside remaining.

Nathan Fidelino 3B / RHP / Grand Blanc, MI / 2024

Report: Physical corner bat with power at the plate. Loud BP round with a top exit velo of 96, average 91. Defensively takes good angles on the ball showing some choppy feet on approach. Big time arm throwing 90 MPH from infield and outfield. Fired a scoreless inning on the mound. Heavy fastball was up to 86 with a spin rate over 2600 and tight breaking curve 73-74 with 2300 spin rates.

Nolan Laskey 1B / RHP / Bedford, MI / 2024

Report: Two-way with a 6-4 frame and upside at the plate. Shows a smooth load and good extension producing top exit velo on 96. Good footwork at 1B with some slick glovework and a strong arm at 87 MPH. Interesting follow on the mound with good present size. Worked more 83-85 with FB but ran the pitch up to 87. Struck out 3 in 2 innings showing a curve 70-75 and a changeup 74-76.

Chase Van Ameyde SS / RHP / Brother Rice, MI / 2024

Report: Two-way player with a tall lean frame. Good feel in the box staring in an upright stance showing ability to work all fields. Defensively has good actions projecting at the corners where his arm plays. Threw 89 MPH across infield. Big upside on the mound as well showing multiple arm slots. Sits 86-88 with the fastball throwing it out of over the high 3/4 and side arm slot. Breaking ball is two planed at 72-74. Works with a tighter breaking curve out of 3/4 slot and a sweeping slider out of the low slot. Huge week as a two way and projects well as a hitter and pitcher.

Matthew Ineich SS / 2B / Detroit Catholic Central, MI / 2024
