Player Spotlight 

Daniel Ornelas: 2B/C, (2023) Hudsonville, MI. 5-foot-9, 160-pound. Solid in the box, Ornelas best exit velocity was 86 mph. (59.4 mph bat speed average). (18.9 mph hand speed average). Began in an open stance with a controlled load, then used a toe tap stride. Bat speed is efficient and shows an upward swing plane. Pull side approach. Capable while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 83 mph; had a clean fluid exchange, sure hands, and consistent footwork. Glovework was used out front. Behind the plate, his best recorded throw to second was clocked at 72 mph; has consistent feet, a clean transfer, and soft hands. recorded pop times of 2.15-2.17. Clocked a time of 7.38 in the 60-yard dash.  (Max spin ; Avg ).

Begins in an open tall stance with a controlled load, then uses a controlled stride. Bat speed is quick, has a rotational simple swing plane and high finish. Produced loud contact and found multiple barrels. Line drive approach. Confident while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 80 mph; had a clean exchange, aggressive footwork, and sure hands. Out front fielding mechanics. Behind the plate, his best recorded throw to second was clocked at 70 mph; shows sure hands, and a natural exchange. he produced a pop time of 2.34-2.38. Had wide setup. Used a short arm action and a high ¾ slot. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.28.  (Max spin ; Avg ).

Daniel Ornelas: C/2B, (2023) Hudsonville, MI. 5-foot-9, 160-pound. Projectable at the plate, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 83 mph. Started in a tall open stance with a tight load, then used a small leg kick. Bat speed is efficient, shows a simple short swing plane and level finish. Barreled up a few balls with loud contact. Pull side approach. Athletic while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 75 mph; had rhythmic fluid footwork, soft sure hands, and a clean exchange. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. While catching, he produced a position velocity of 70 mph during throw downs; has a quick exchange, consistent hands, and athletic feet. Consistently had pop times of 2.28-2.34. A lot of flexibility and athletic setup. From a high ¾ slot, showed decent accuracy to the bag with a quick arm action. Clocked a 60 time of 7.4 at the event. Fluid on the mound, showed a high ¾ arm angle and a long arm action with above average arm speed. Tall-and-fall type pitcher and shows easy effort. Displays even shoulders and a tall balance point. a falling off finish. Changeup (64-65 mph).Produced a fastball that came in at 71-73 mph and topped out at 76 mph; showed sinking action and consistent control. Threw his 12/6 curveball (60-62) with gradual action and low in the zone command.

Defense: (C) 2.28-2.34 pop times. Consistent hands, athletic footwork, quick exchange. Solid. A lot of flexibility and athletic setup. (IF) Soft sure hands, rhythmic fluid footwork, clean exchange. Athletic.  Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. 

Arm: 75 mph infield velocity. 70 mph catcher velocity. Quick arm action, high ¾ slot, decent accuracy. 

Speed: 7.40 (60-yard).

Pitching: Fluid. Tall-and-fall delivery, easy effort. High ¾ arm angle, above average arm speed, long arm action. Tall balance point, even shoulders, a falling off finish.

FB: T76. 71-73 mph. (Max spin 1716;  Avg 1667). Consistent accuracy, sinking action. 

CB: 60-62 mph. Low in the zone command, gradual action, 12/6 shape. 

CH: 64-65 mph.
