2/22/14
6-foot-0, 175 pounds with an average, athletic frame. Offers plenty of tools. His defensive skill sets him apart from the others. Quick feet and quick release. Recorded pop time splits between 1.97 and 2.06, but consistently stayed around the 2.00 mark. Offered solid accuracy keeping throws around the bag while topping out at 80 mph. As a hitter, he continues to show growth with overall consistency. Uses a balanced stance with short stride. Displays quickness in bat speed (84 mph exit velocity), while using a level bat path. Shows good balance, while taking a short path to the ball. Offers linedrive type production with smooth fluidity to his swing. Definitely opened some eyes over the weekend. Ran a 7.22 on a slow track, but has been clocked at a 6.72 at previous showcases. Offers upside on the mound as well. Throws through a 3/4 slot with long arm action. Quick arm speed. Tends to land closed. Uses an 83-87 mph fastball that features arm side run. His 70-72 mph curveball offers late 11/5 movement; tends to change arm slot with curve. Changeup sat between 74-76 mph.

Veinbergs has really started to make a name for himself. A pure catch-and-throw guy, Veinbergs registers pop times in the 1.9’s consistently. He took a better round of BP this time around, showing better bat speed and pop. On the mound is where he might ultimately find himself. His fastball worked between 83-85mph with late armside run. He was underneath his slider a bit, causing it to get side-to-side but it certainly has the makings of a good pitch.

Veinbergs recently popped onto the scene in August. He continue to improve. Good arm behind the plate and on the mound. 79-82 on the mound. Good sink on his fastball with armside run. Should get plenty of groundball outs. Behind the dish showed well with accurate throws ranging between 1.97-.2.07. At the plate has some work to do with his front arm as he bars it out. He is athletic with some gap pop and a predominately level swing.
8/30/13 Veinbergs is best separated by his arm. On the mound shows considerable upside. 81-83mph with his fastball. Sharp slider (71-72mph). Short arm action that is repeatable. Can get more out of his legs. Quick arm. Threw solid change at 75mph. Kept arm speed up. Liked him the most on the mound this day but also can catch well. Strong arm behind dish. Threw from ¾ slot causing the ball to run. A little inconsistent but will improve. Quick hands. At the plate showed line drive stroke. Will improve pop as he incorporates lower half more.
