RHP Carter Martin (Warrenton, 2027) continues to solidify himself as a must-know name in Missouri’s sophomore class. The 6-foot, 171-pound right-hander has a lean, projectable frame with plenty of room for added strength. Martin moves fluidly down the mound with a clean, loose arm action, delivering his pitches with effortless control. Since last fall’s Legacy Scout Day, his fastball has taken a noticeable jump, now sitting at 87-88 mph with impressive carry through the zone (19.8” IVB). What truly sets Martin apart, however, are his two high-spin, swing-and-miss breaking balls—a sharp 75-76 mph curveball spinning at 2,700+ RPM (2,874 max) and a tight 76-78 mph slider that reaches 2,926 RPM. With command of both elite breaking pitches and a fastball that continues to trend upward, Martin is a name that college coaches should have on their radar.

2/19/24

RHP Carter Martin (Warrenton, 2027) used Monday to only solidify his status as one of the top pitching prospects in Missouri’s current freshman class. A simple, athletic in-line mover down the mound, Martin’s athleticism and ease of operation are polished past his age. He pitched at 82-84 mph with his fastball from a loose, quick arm that played out of a ¾ slot. Martin’s breaking ball showed sharp late break off a lateral plane, spinning at nearly 2700 RPM on average in the 71-74 mph velocity band. To round out his arsenal, Martin also threw a 74-75 mph changeup that played with natural run from a lower arm slot than his fastball on average.
