UTL/RHP Eddie Ahearn (Parkway South, 2024) climbs up our board after an impressive two-way showing at the Future Games with Team Select. There, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound backstop threw it well behind the plate, popping a 1.96 on his best bullet while elevating the baseball to the pull-sde in BP. Perhaps Ahearn’s most redeeming quality, however, lies on the mound, running his fastball up to 88 mph from a lower slot on average, pitching at 84-87 mph. He also spun a low-70s slurvey-type breaking ball and spotted a 78-80 mph changeup below the zone.
Positional Profile: C/1B
Body: 6-2, 200-pounds. Strong, well-proportioned frame.
Hits: RHH. Quiet in the box, slight bend in the lower half, hands work back in rhythm, strides short. Direct to contact, stays flat through the zone, worked the pull-side with line drives and repeats.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 80.2 MPH. 306' max distance.
Arm: RH. Short arm path works finishes from a high 3/4 window. Accurate, on the bag.
Defense: Lower half works in line to target with square shoulders, clean hand transfer.
Positional Profile: C/RHP
Body: Solid 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame with some strength in his lower half.
Hit: RHH. At the plate starts with a balanced, square stance. Quick toe-tap and hand load. Slight arm-bar. Long, level swing through zone, making consistent line-drive contact to the middle of the field.
Power: 84 mph exit velocity off the tee and 87 mph exit velocity in BP.
Arm: RH. C - 73 mph. Long, low ¾ arm action with accuracy around the bag and developing arm strength.
Defense: 2.06-2.15 pop times. Low setup with good flexibility for his size. Shows adequate receiving and blocking ability. Clean transfers and footwork on throws.
Run: 7.96 runner in the 60.
