7/5/17 - Wheeler is a lean and projectable 5-foot-11 150-pound left-handed hitting shortstop and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 6.81 60 and has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, simple and repeatable, balanced stance, minimal load with no wasted movement, short stride, quick hands and aggressive bat speed, repeats, mostly pull side contact during hitting evaluations.  On the infield, athletic actions, smooth and under control, quick transfer and throw, high three quarters release, soft hands, plays though the ball, accurate throws, 81 mph positional velo, throws have carry. On the mound, Wheeler throws strikes with three pitches, athletic delivery, in line down the mound, loose high three quarters arm slot, repeatable and simple, fastball at mostly 77-80 mph, some with late running action, breaking ball has slurve-type spin, mostly 10-to-4 sweeping action, late break, change up at 66-69 mph, near fastball arm speed, occasional arm side run. 
7/19/16 - Wheeler is a 5-foot-11 140-pound left-handed hitting shortstop and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.50 60 and has a 78 mph exit velo.  At the plate, starts slightly open with smooth load into back side, minimal hand load, level path through the zone, short to contact, mostly line drives to the middle of the field, solid consistent contact.  On the infield, 76 mph positional velo, athletic actions, high three quarters release, quick feet, plays through the ball with momentum towards 1B, accurate throws with carry. On the mound, Wheeler has a high three quarters arm slot, lean and projectable frame with loose arm action, simple and repeatable mechanics, repeats, fastball at 76-78 mph, curveball shows signs of being a good pitch with tight spin, 11-to-5 shape, some having sharp movement, change up at 66-70 mph.
