Hits: RHH. Crouched setup, pre-pitch load and short stride. Strong hands, direct uphill path, above-average bat strength and the ball jumps off the bat.

Arm: RH. OF-82 mph. Long arm action, over-the-top slot.

OF Luke Burns (Desmet, 2023) took arguably the event’s most polished BP round, repeating quality contact from an athletic right-handed stroke. Burns was all over the barrel throughout, regularly producing 90+ mph exit velocities with a 350 ft. peak batted distance. He’s improved since the St. Louis Top Prospect Games in June, where he was also a standout, and has added muscle onto a 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame. Burns is another top prospect to note in Missouri’s 2023 class that’s still uncommitted.

Repeated a simple swing from the right side without much added movement, stayed level through the zone and worked back up the middle. Averaged nearly 71 mph of bat speed from the event in BP. Paced DeSmet this spring offensively with a .348/.406/.424 slash-line.

Body: 6-1, 195-pounds. Strong, sturdy stature.
Hits: RHH. Wide base with knee bend, back hand slot to start, slight drift back into a vertical barrel set, strides short. Hands work direct to contact, level bat path, line drive approach. Simple approach, doesn't try to do too much.
Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 83.4 MPH. 313' max distance.
Arm: RH. Long arm swing finishes from a near over-the-top slot.
Defense: Tempo'd first step, lower half stays in rhythm to the baseball, steady hands.
