Campbell

Campbell is a slender and projectable 6-foot-2, 175-pound, left-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. At the event, he ran a 7.65 second 60 and 5.14 home-to-first. During hitting evaluations, Campbell posted and exit velocity of 81 mph, relaxed stance with slightly closed off stride, quick hands, showed ability handle inside pitch, produced hard pull contact during batting practice, uphill finish with hands, looks to lift the baseball. Behind the plate, athletic set up, quick arm action, clean transfers, strong arm with carry on throws, positional velo of 74 mph with accurate throws. On the mound, Campbell shows a lean frame with room to grow, some rhythm with delivery, regular effort, accelerates down the mound, clean arm action, falls towards first base with finish, clean arm action with an over the top release. Fastball sat 77-80 mph, occasional cut action, changeup is 67-70 mph with some fading action, curveball is 61-64 mph, near fastball-arm speed, gradual action, 11-to-5 shape.

2/24/18 - Campbell is an athletically 6-foot 160-pound left-handed hitting catcher, right-handed pitcher and shortstop in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 4.72 home to first and has a 79 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance with smooth load, accelerated and loose hands, showed some feel for the barrel and range in swing, consistent middle to pull side line drives, repeats. Behind the plate, 2.22 to 2.41 pop times, 68 mph positional velocity, staggered base, smooth and clean transfer, high three quarters arm slot, arm works, shoulders get square to throw, mostly accurate throws, some with carry to the bag. On the infield, 75 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, gathers feet and gains ground to 1B to throw with momentum, clean catch and throw, smooth footwork to the ball. On the mound, Campbell has a smooth tempo and acceleration in his delivery, clean arm action, repeats well, throws with some effort at release, slight rotation at at balance point, over the top arm slot, fastball at 69-72 mph, breaking ball at 53-58 mph, 12-to-6 breaking ball, sharp break at times, change up at 61-63 mph, some with late sink, throws with fastball arm speed, high percentage of strikes with all pitches.

10/22/17 - Campbell is a long levered 5-foot-10 150-pound left-handed hitting catcher, right-handed pticher and third baseman in Missouri’s 20201 class.  He ran a 8.40 60 and a 5.12 home to first.  He has an exit velocity of 72 mph. At the plate, thin set up, smooth rhythm, controlled leg kick, accelerated swing, occasionally loses barrel, middle to pull side contact, loose hands creates bat whip. Behind the plate, pop times between 2.31 and 2.58-seconds, 66 mph positional velo, thin set up in feet, short over the top release, clean transfer, fluid footwork, throws mostly accurate to the bag. On the infield, 71 mph positional velocity, short high three quarters release, loose arm action, works through the ball with footwork, momentum behind throw, clean transfer, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Campbell has a lean frame, smooth and repeatable delivery, arm works, creates in line direction down the mound, over the top release, fastball at 69-73 mph, curveball has slight 12-to-6 break, throws strikes, most contact produced ground balls during game action.
