11/03/19

Athletic build at 5 foot 10, 170-pounds.  Arm strength is present, working up to 86 out of the windup and stretch.  Small side step works to an average leg kick to the belt.  Rolls the knee inward to load his hips as the hands separate at the mid-chest.  Front side works level, landing on-line and square.  Falls to the 1B side, lacking extension as the front side works to create more arm speed.  Quick arm with a medium arm swing gets to an over-the-top release.  Fastball at 83-86 attacked the zone with a lot of success up in the zone.  Straight change-up has occasional run at 75-79.  Good feel for the change.  The breaking ball uses gradual 11/5 tilt at 66-68, lacking arm speed and aggression it does roll out of the hand.  Sipe is just tapping his athletic potential on the mound.  The arm strength alone will continue to grow on the bump, and that should allow the secondary stuff to grow as well.
Posted the best outfield velocity on the day at 91 mph.  Athleticism is present running at 6.88 in the 60.  Plays fluid through balls in the outfield with average hands.  Arm is accurate with carry from a high ¾ slot.  Hits from the right side with a wide base and his barrel starting in an upright position.  Works middle to his poll side with some quickness to his hands.  Doesn’t use much lower half during his swing, causing some length in the swing path.  Stayed on a breaking ball during game action hitting a double down the left field line.  Exit velocity recorded at 87 mph.

10/16/19

Athletic frame at 5 foot 10, 170-pounds.  Strength is present.  Fastball seems to play heavy out of the hand, ranging 84-86 with a spin rate of 1892 – 2292 rpm.  Breaking ball has late 11/5 tilt at 66-71.  Erratic, as the hand speed can slow at times, there is depth.  A knuckled grip leads to spin rates ranging 1569 – 1707 rpm on the breaking ball.  Change-up plays straight, attacking the zone at 77-78 with low spin rates at 1125 – 1422 rpm.  Small side step, dragging the pivot foot to the 1st base side.  Low kick to the belt, staying tall over the rubber.  On-line, landing in-line and square.  Long arm swing with a slight reach works to an over-the-top slot.  Quick at times, the arm speed does alter pitch to pitch.  There is upside as the arm learns to works at the same rate it does from the outfield.
Recorded the best positional velocity on the night from the outfield with his arm topping at 93 mph.  Showed athleticism recording a 3.86 in the 30-yard dash.  Balanced setup from the right side of the plate.  Short stride with his hands cocking during his load creating some bat angle behind his head.  Quick hands and looks to stay through the middle of the field, getting extension through the zone.  Average bat speed with his exit velocity reaching 85 mph.  Athletic and fluid through balls in the outfield.  Average hands with clean transfers.  Arm has carry from an overhand slot.

5/23/19

5 foot 10, 170-pound athletic build.  Features a fastball up to 86 and a feel for a knuckleball as his top secondary pitch.  The knuckleball does have some spin but is thrown with good arm speed, acting as a fastball look-alike pitch, before it begins to tumble.  Fastball ranged 82-86 with down angle when down in the zone.  The knuckleball sat 65-70, around the zone, and looking like a strike out of the hand.  Flashed a change-up at 68-69, slowing the arm some and getting fade.  Breaking balls comes out of a slow hand at 72.   Small rocker to the side and leg lift to the belt.  Controlled, slow temp.  Long arm swing with some reach out of the glove.  Will shorten the arm swing some for the knuckleball.  Over-the-top release that will float down to a high-3/4 slot at times.  Lands on-line and square with easy extension.  Not much effort, stable with the head throughout.  Arm speed is average to above through release.
Hits from the right side using a balanced setup.  Picks his front foot up and sets it back down during his load with not much movement or weight transfer.  Some quickness to the hands through the swing with not much lower half involved.  Level bat path through the zone with average bat speed.  Exit velocity recorded at 92 mph.  Plays through the ball in the outfield using a two-hand catch.  Quick feet and quick arm.  Accurate arm that topped at 88 mph.  Recorded a 3.82 in the 30-yard dash.

06.11.18

5 feet 10, 165-pound build. The right hander uses a simple delivery with a slow tempo, staying in line to the plate with a long arm action leading to an over the top slot. Fastball sits at 77-80 mph, topping at 81 mph. Near fastball arm speed on his change-up, sitting 66-68 mph with sink and fade. Throws a knuckle ball at 68-72 mph. Knuckle ball has movement with a split/tumble action. Good feel for both is change and Knuckle ball. Also, recorded a 7.15 in the 60-yard dash.
