Well built stocky frame, durable, receives with soft hands, serviceable footwork, arm-strength from an over the top slot was 71 mph, 2.13 pop time. In the box, very aggressive, attacks the ball out in front, slight lift in his swing with power to all gaps. 81 mph exit velo.

Samalot weighs 180-pounds, from a 5-foot-8 frame, thick strong lower half, ideal for the demands of the catching  position. At the plate he uses a wide base hands high around his head, on the pitch he uses a back load knee lift for timing with a stride, hands power inside the ball on an aggressive path, strong, drops some on back side, fluid long finish, 80 mph exit velocity off a tee, but expect that number to rise come this summer. Defensively,  uses a wide base to receive the ball, soft hands, gets the ball out of his glove quick with a fast release near his ear, over the top slot 73 mph arm strength from the catching position, 2.09 pop time was his best on the day. Catching Prospect to keep an eye on come this spring - summer.

Samalot is a well built 5-foot-8 178 pound right-handed catcher. Offensively- Sets up in balanced stance with an aggressive, quick knee-to-knee leg kick. Hands slightly drawn back, backside explodes upon contact. Swing has natural upward finish, leading to flyball/ line drive results. Ability to drive the ball to pull side. Peak exit velocity of 85 MPH (Up 5 MPH from 9/24/27). Power potential is there. Defensively- Creates compact target for pitcher. Receives the ball well with quick transfer set up through footwork that gain ground into his throws. Arm strength was 71 MPH (Up 3 MPH from 9/24/17) with pop times ranging from 2.19-2.25.Eliminating slight delay after transfer into throw should get him back to his sub 2.1 pop times.

Full framed 5-foot-8 180 pound right-handed hitting catcher. Offensively- Slightly spread stance with a knee-to-knee leg kick and slight take back of the hands. Aggressive lower half as he stays over backside; on plane swing with some an uphill 2-handed finish. Flyball/line drive results through the middle of the field. Exit velocity peaked at 80 MPH. Defensively- Compact secondary setup with quick transfer and positive ground being gained within footwork; traditional short arm action from a high, over-the-top arm slot with some carry. Arm strength was 68 MPH with his pop times ranging from 2.14-2.18. Tools are there and will continue to develop.

 Strong build at 5-foot-8 180 pounds. Offensively- Balanced setup and approach with some punch to the gaps. Stays in the zone an extended period of time with some natural lift in his finish.  Exit velocity was 84 MPH. Defensively- Pop times were a solid 2.01-2.09 with his arm strength at 73 MPH. On the bag accuracy with some carry, very clean with his transfer and footwork. Solid , overall foundation.
