Roides is a solid 5-foot-8, 170 pounds. He ran a 4.3 from home to first base. Offensively- Stance is wide and even with a slight knee bend. Hands aligned just above back shoulder. Uses a toe tap stride and loads hands slightly back and up. Rotates hips sharply to get swing started. Swing path is short and direct to the ball with full extension in front of the body after contact. Middle of the field, line drive results. Recorded a 70 MPH exit velocity off the tee. Defensively- Approaches the ball smoothly. Sets up with a wide base, knees bent, and hands out in front. Catches the ball with confident hands; uses a foot-to-foot shuffle to set up his throw. Showed a quick arm; peaked at 75 MPH on his throws. Pitching- Sets up in the middle of the rubber, feet at shoulder width, hands in front of chin. Uses a small side step to initiate his pivot to the rubber before bringing his front leg to chest height at his balance point. Front leg extends towards home plate, landing in a straight line. Throwing arm goes behind body towards 3B, before coming through at a traditional ¾ arm slot. Repeats delivery. Fastball ranged from 68-74 MPH. Arm speed slowed slightly on changeup, which sat at 75-63 MPH.
