Exit Velocity:

Positional Arm:

Peak FB: 84-MPH
Range 80-83-MPH
CB/SL range: 66-70-MPH
Well built, moves with confidence around the 1B bag, loose arm action, short take away with accuracy on his throws. Open-stance in the box, fluid swing path, lower leg kick for timing, hard consistent contact, repeatable.  Pitching- Strong and sturdy frame with a simple delivery. Good tempo/pace to his leg lift and stride. Stays in his legs well. Short arm action that allows him to keep his arm on time with his lower half.
NY Games (June 25-27, 2015)

Sturdy 6-foot-1, 215-pound RHP, ran a 7.67/60. Pitching - uses height to get downward plane on 78-80 MPH fastball that touches 81 MPH, arm-side run, 2-to-7 curveball at 68-69 MPH falls off the shelf to right-handed batters, effectively changes eye level, consistently induces weak contact. Offensively - loads heavy, brings bat through strike zone on level path, full extension for exit velocity at 89 MPH, some evidence of lower body engagement, scary to think how much power he can generate with seamless counter rotation between upper and lower torso. Defensively - comfortable footwork, smooth transfer, sure hands. 72 MPH on throws.

WNY Travel Workout (January 16, 2017)

Bruning has a large frame at 6-foot-1, 215 pounds. Recorded a time of 4.50 seconds from home to first base. Offensively- Starts with a wide base and knees bent. Hands are just below back shoulder. Weight rocks back toward back leg before using a leg kick to initiate swing. Weight shifts forward throughout swing. Swing has natural uphill plane, allowing for balls to be driven. Strong extension forward through contact. Ball jumps off bat. Pitching- Begins with feet at shoulder width and legs straight with hands in front of chest. Uses a small forward step as right foot toe taps onto first base side of rubber. Knee lift comes just above waist at balance point. Has a short stride that lands directly in line with home plate. Has a bow and arrow arm action on the back side. Traditional ¾ arm slot with drive towards catcher. Fastball topped out in the 80-81 MPH range. Also featured a curveball at 69-70 MPH and a changeup at 73-74 MPH.

April 2016
Bruning stands a thick, physical 5-foot-10 with a linebacker body type.  The versatile young freshman threw his FB at 76-77 but struggled to command his off speed. Though not a great outing for the freshman, a lot of potential to look forward to for this young ball players.  He’s certainly one we’ll have our eyes on the next few years as he grows and develops.
