Coates stands at 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, with an athletic body build.  He ran a 4.15 Home to 1^st from the right-hand side. He has a smooth approach through the ball, with smooth, soft, quick hands, throws with a clean loose action, arm is very strong with lots of carry, plays through the ball nicely and has accuracy on the target.  His arm strength was at 85 MPH.  At the plate his setup is relaxed and very balanced, short stride, with a smooth load.  His hands are very compact and strong, swinging on a level plane with long/full extension through the ball, with an athletic balance throughout the whole swing.  His exit velocity was 88 MPH.  He is a player who shows a lot of potential to progress to the next level in college.
