Pitching: Uses a center rubber setup while using a side step. Belt high leg drive with a slight coil away from the plate. Has a moderate stride while landing open. Long arm swing while showing some scap load; high 3/4 slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 86 MPH, while sitting 84-86 MPH; plays up in the zone. CB: 71-74 MPH; late action.
Physical: 6-1, 215 pounds; Sturdy, full build. 7.3 runner in the 60.
Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; upright bat position. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a compact swing path with a late one hand finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 94 MPH via Trackman.
Defensively: Starts with a low to the ground setup; uses prep step while playing low to the ground. Hands are underneath the body with a clean transfer. Short take back from a high 3/4 arm slot. INF - 80 MPH.

Alvarez has a strong and physical build at 6-foot-1, 215-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.42 seconds, top exit velo recorded at 96 MPH. The left-handed hitter starts in an even and balanced stance. Simple stroke, smooth weight transfer. Gets the foot down, allows the hands to work. Consistently firm contact with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the plate, recorded pop times ranging from 2.22-2.32 seconds, top velo of 77 MPH. Throws were on the bag. On the bump, Alvarez pitched with rhythm and tempo. Even shoulder, lands closed at footstrike. Higher arm slot, nearly over-the-top. Long, loose arm. FB sat in the 80-83 MPH range with downhill angle. Showed a CB with 11/5 shape at 69-71 MPH.
Alvarez has a durable 6-foot-1 215-pound frame. Ran the 60 in 7.57 seconds and exit velocity topped at 91 mph. At the plate, lefty hitter starts in a balanced, wide stance with hands above back shoulder. Small foot lift and stride, load brings hands down and back. Whip to the barrel through the zone with some gap to gap pop. Behind the plate, pop times ranged from 2.27-2.34, with throws topping at 72 mph to 2B. Over the top slot, stays low through finish. Flexibility in hips. High follow prospect.
