7/10/19

Demonstrated feel for a large 6-foot-1, 189-pound physical frame with noticeable strength. The right-handed hitter begins with a calm, even stance with hands that rest on the shoulder. A leg-lift and some forward lean allowed for weight-shift to a stiff front-side to generate barrel whip through the zone. Generated easy backspin utilizing a slightly uphill barrel path through the baseball creating carry to the pull-side gap with a 90 mph bat-exit velocity. Found loud, consistent barrels with a feel for rhythm and quick hands at the plate. The first baseman displayed average footwork with adequate feel around the bag. A soft glove hand coupled with smooth transfers allowed for accurate 75 mph throws across the infield.

6/25/19

A physical frame at 6-foot-1, 189 pounds. Ran a 7.75 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- Stands in the box in a tall stance. Rests bat on the shoulder. Short load and short stride towards the pitcher before attacking the hitting zone. Has a flat bat path through the hitting zone. Gets full extension after the point of contact. Finishes with a one hand release. Showed consistent hard contact. Top exit velocity 87 MPH. Defensively- Showed active footwork and above average funnel actions. Moves well laterally. Takes time to gather himself on throws across the diamond. Top throwing velocity 74 MPH.

2/18/19

A physical 6-foot-1, 189 pounds. Ran a 7.95 60 yard dash. Offensively- Tall upright stance in the box. Rests the bat on the shoulder, short stride towards the pitcher before attacking the hitting zone. Stays short to the ball with a level bat path through the zone with a slight lift at the point of contact. Showed above average bat speed with an 89 exit velocity. Defensively- Active footwork with a wide base when attacking the baseball. Stays under control with an above average exchange to a ¾ arm slot. Had a position velocity of 71 MPH. The 2020 graduate has some power potential at the next level as he continues to develop.

7/31/18

Stands 6-foot-1, 182-pounds with a projectable build, ran a 4.97 home-to-first. Narrow stance in the  box, upright, hands are relaxed. Stride on the pitch for timing, direct to the ball, mostly level contact, full finish to his shoulder height, much improved exit velo of 86 now. At 1B he uses a wide base, fields tight to his body, throws from a high ¾ slot with 72 mph arm-strength and accuracy.

Academy Tryouts (November 18, 2017)

Duffek stands at 6-foot-0, 170 pounds with projectable size.  Offensively- Righty with short, shoulder width stance, length to stride.  Hands held above shoulders, full arm extension with flat barrel path.  Exit velocity 77 MPH off a tee.  Defensively- Fields behind the ball with  basic footwork, uses a high 3/4- arm slot.  Longer release with 66 MPH infield velocity.  Duffek could benefit from working on arm strength this offseason.
