Notes

Comments

8/10/21

Physical: Advanced, powerful 6-foot-2, 200lb frame with connection. 7.24 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Bent, open stance from a compact base as the hands operated loose, higher by the head. Utilized a quick barrel-tip on-time with a toe-tap stride to initiate a slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Stayed over the rear hip well, able to extend the hands through the ball at impact for a leveraged approach all over the pull-side of the field. Recorded a lofty 50% fly ball rate (via Trackman) up to above a 300 foot distance and T93 mph bat-exit velocity at his peak. Found consistent bat-speeds during his round with some middle of the order projection.

Defensively: The primary backstop featured a late, left-knee down setup with a soft, accurate glove hand in the pocket. Pop times ranged from 1.97-2.06 with clean, efficient straight-line footwork, wasting no time in/out of the glove. Worked up to a 74 mph arm strength (accurate, on the bag, H ¾ slot).

6/28/21

Physical: Strong, projectable 6-foot-2, 200lb frame with natural physicality that translates to all phases. 7.27 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Balanced, crouched stance with the hands operating high to start; utilized a controlled toe tap stride before unleashing a whippy barrel through a slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Ambushed pitches out over the plate with a well sequenced swing, producing loud contact to the LF side of the field during batting practice. Notched a 50% fly ball rate (via Trackman) at a T90 mph bat-exit velocity allowing for batted balls up to around 340 feet. Easy doubles power and middle of the order consideration with bat to ball skills to match; was able to carry over minimal swing/miss traits into game action, showing the ability to hit for some average down the road too.

Defensively: The primary backstop featured a flexible left-knee down look in the crouch when receiving, smoothly navigating the corners from flexed to extended in the glove hand. Pop times ranged from 1.84-1.92 with some pre-catch rhythm assisting a strong, connected move in-line to the bag while replacing the feet. Released powerfully from H ¾, using the turf on occasion up to T79 mph arm strength. Ready defender that can handle the catch/throw phase with consistency, adding a large target to deaden the baseball on blocks.

2/18/21

Physical: Strong, durable 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame with immense feel for the actions in all phases; obvious athleticism present. 7.56 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Balanced, even stance with a slight bend in the knees; on time barrel-tip at the top of the load coupled with a controlled, toe tap stride. Utilized a slight uphill path on the way through allowing for lift through the middle-pull side, peppering the LCF gap with hard contact during batting practice. Notched an impressive 89 mph bat-exit velocity giving way to a peak batted ball distance of 311 feet per Trackman Baseball. Stayed in the legs well with a short, efficient stroke. The approach should play well in game action with a big commitment to rhythm at the plate.

Defensively: The primary backstop featured advanced defensive abilities across the board. Worked left knee down and traditional techniques behind the plate when receiving, soft glove hand at the catch point with easy pocket awareness. Pop times ranged from 1.98-2.05 seconds showing off fluidity in the catch / throw phase. High level confidence in the transfers that used the momentum of the pitch to get in and out of the glove, releasing through a short, high ¾ slot (strong 77 mph arm strength). Could block from either one-knee down, or traditional with above-average confidence in down chest angles that followed the glove hand when creating lateral shields.

9/11/20

Physical: 6-foot-1, 185 pounds; lean frame with a strong lower half. 7.64 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Bent knees from a shoulder width stance, rests his bat on his back shoulder right as he is about to go into his load; uses a small lift and replace to move some weight onto his backfoot. Active lower half with an aggressive turn on foot strike, hits off a strong front leg with uphill swing path with good connection through the swing, turns the barrel behind him to match pitch plane effectively. Lifted the ball exceptionally well to the pull side, stayed on some pitches and barreled the back up the middle as well; peak Trackman exit velocity of 81 MPH.
Defensively: Narrow feet with slightly setup, works quickly out of the crouch and moves toward the target; quick to his feet and throws from a strong, wide base. Uses soft hands that work up through the ball into a smooth transfer; over the top slot with good hand speed through the throw. 2.2-2.25 pop times. C - 70 MPH.

7/22/20

Physical: Long, athletic 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame with strength found throughout the movements. 7.53 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Balanced, even stance with complete control throughout the setup as the hands were idle on the shoulder. Utilized a leg-lift stride coupled with a barrel tilt at the top of the load to initiate a short and lightning quick, flat barrel path into the hitting zone. Showcased a short time to contact with ability to make tight turns on balls thrown on the inner half, can cover the outside of the plate too with an adjustable and athletic lower half that leads the swing with advanced feel for the barrel. Featured a high level hard hit percentage during batting practice while recording a top bat-exit velocity of 88 mph per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary backstop flashed solid receiving skills with a soft glove hand at the catch point, the body beat the ball to the spot and the hand was able to stick the low strike with a low setup in the crouch. Pop times ranged from 2.10-2.22 with quick straight line footwork with directional power towards the target, quality catch and throw skills as the arm worked through a high ¾ slot. Long frame got around balls in the dirt, deadening them over the plate with recovery ability. C - 69 mph
