6/25/17

Sturdy 5-foot-11, 180-pound build, ran a 7.98/60. Offensively - upright stance, uses inner knee rotation with some evidence of counter rotation between upper and lower torso for an exit velocity of 86 MPH - an increase of 4 MPH from February, keeps level bat path and gets full extension after contact, further engagement of lower body will maximize strength. Defensively - agile footwork, sure glove, smooth transfer transfer with an accurate, confident arm at 74 MPH. Pitching - uses height to get downward plane on fastball with arm-side run at 75-76 MPH, developing a 12-to-6 curveball at 59-60 MPH, good bite on slider at 65-66 MPH, full actualization of hip tilt will add velocity.

2/20/17

Roeschlaub checks in at 5-foot-11, 185 pounds. Was clocked at 8.2 seconds in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- Begins with an open stance and feet slightly wider than his shoulders. Hands are at height of back shoulder. Bat has pronounced wiggle before load. Strides closed as hands load backwards. Has some weight transfer forward before swing becomes rotational. Hands are short to ball with strong extension through contact. Swing plane is slightly uphill with a high finish. Had an exit velocity of 82 MPH off of the tee. Defensively- Moves well off of bag. Fields ball with hands under body and bent at waist. Footwork was inconsistent on throws, but had a positional velocity of 78 MPH across the diamond. Pitching- Begins with feet at shoulder width with left foot in middle of rubber. Uses small side step to allow pivot onto rubber. Knee lift comes to shoulder height at balance point. Stride is medium length and lands slightly closed on first base size of mound. Arm gets behind body on back side. Hand comes through straight over the top but at a low arm spot. Extends hand out over front foot through delivery. Fastball was in the 77-80 MPH range and did good job of locating pitch to glove side. Also showed two different breaking balls: a curveball with a larger break and more depth at 61-64 MPH and a tighter, smaller shaped slider at 68-69 MPH.
