Comments
Caba checks in at a muscular 6-foot-0 180 pound outfielder who ran an improved 7.00 60. Offensively- Sets up even with hands just off back shoulder; slight barrel tip towards the mound with slightly forward stride. Aggressive lower half with a compact swing; explosive through the zone with late acceleration. Improved his exit velocity up to 87 MPH. Flashed the ability to drive the gaps and can turn on the ball middle in. Defensively- Projects well as a corner OF; strong over the top release with a peak arm strength of 86 MPH (8 MPH improvement from January). Will need to consolidate his footwork and transfer so that he's more continuous in getting off his throws. Impressive all-around athlete.
NY State Open ID (January 31, 2016)
Caba is an athletic 6-foot-0 174 pound outfielder who ran a 7.37 60 and 4.42 home-to-1B. Offensively- Joseph sets up slightly open with his hands off his shoulder, with a 45 degree bat angle. Barrel wraps some behind his head as he gets back to even with his stride. Aggressive with lower half and gets hands through the zone in a hurry. Accelerates through extension with line drive/gap contact. Repeatable swing with an exit velocity of 78 MPH. Heart of the order type. Defensively- Aggressive approach with both groundballs and flyballs. Gathers his momentum well and explodes through the catch. Arm showed some life at 78 MPH. Good overall athlete that shows a feel for the game, definitely a player to be seen within the flow of the game.
