June 25-27, 2018 (NYS Games)

60 Yard Dash:
7.63
Exit Velocity:
87
Positional Arm: 81

Stands 6-foot-1, 195-pounds. Smooth short load, short take away, High hands, Compact swing, Lower rotation, Balanced finish, Quick hands to the ball, Fluid bat path, 87 mph exit velo. Defensivley, stays behind the ball, aggressive, accurate throws with carry.  Pitching - Solid body type with lower leg strength. Generates power with initial leg lift and drop/drive on back leg. Works to transfer weight to the front side at the landing point. Arm stays loose on seperation to the release point and finish. CB has large sweeping action and is a good mix of velo from his FB. Works well down in the zone keeping hitters honest. Movements stay simple from start to finish. Shows good prescence on the mound. Fastball peaked 82 mph sitting 79-81.
May 2018
6-foot-1 southpaw who pounds the strike zone; herky-jerky arm action, effectively changes eye level of batters commanding 3-4 pitches, uses height out of ¾ slot to get downward plane on fastball, induces weak contact, throws breaking ball with tight spin to both sides of the plate. At the plate Van Bramer makes consistent barrel contact, keeps bat on level path through the strike zone, quick to the ball, can drive ball to all fields

Preseason - West (February 19, 2018) Stands 6-foot-1, 195-pounds from a solid built base, still more strength gains to come. In the box, wide stance, relaxed hands near his back shoulder, slight load for timing. Slight leg lift on the pitch with a stride, compact to the ball, full extension with an incline to his bath path. Shows pull-side power, and had an 84 mph exit velocity. Defensively, stays behind the ball, soft glove with choppy footwork. On the mound Van Bramer has made some serious improvements showing off his off-season hard work. Quick pace to his delivery, belt high knee lift, long stride, releases from almost an over-the-top slot. Fastball sat 80-81 (peaking 82) with late downward angle, arm-side tail. Curveball 66-71 with 12/6 shape, could use a touch more hand-speed. Overall, very impressive day for Van Bramer, as he has gotten better every event we have seen him, a true testament to his work-ethic.
WNY All-Star Game (September 24, 2017)
Van Bramer is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound corner infielder. Offensively – Wide, slightly open stance, and has slight knee bend prior to the pitch. He hands are mid-low and relaxed with elbow bend. He uses a high leg kick to start his swing, straight back load, and active hip rotation. Van Bramer has upward tilt in his swing path, but makes solid contact. He finishes high on his follow through and has an exit velocity of 83 MPH. Defensively – Choppy footwork but receives with an active technique. He keeps his glove and hands out in front. His gather and release is rapid which helps him get the ball to his target quickly. Van Bramer has a long, high ¾ arm release and has an arm strength of 73 MPH across the field.
Campus Series-Albany (July 18, 2017)
Van Bramer stands in at 6-foot-0, 175-pounds with an athletic frame. Offensively- Lefty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding the bat above the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a quick knee raise in to stride forward while his hands move back slightly into his hitting position. Utilizes good lower body rotation clearing his hips and using the whole-body frame in the process of the swing. Shows quick hands into the hitting zone with a level barrel path throughout into a high two-handed finish. Continued to demonstrate good plate coverage with line drive ability up the middle and to the pull side. Showed more gap to gap power than at Canisius driving the ball into the right-center gap. Clean, fluid swing with potential. Recorded an exit velocity of 82 MPH, a 3 MPH improvement from his previous best of 79 MPH recorded in February 2017 and 1 MPH shy of his current best of 83 MPH set at Canisius (July 2017). Defensively- Continues to show good approach and footwork off the bag at first. Fielding mechanics are clean with good footwork towards intended target. Moves well off the bag and can make the play coming off. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 72 MPH, just shy of his best mark of 77 MPH set in February 2017 and 4 MPH shy of his 76 MPH mark set at Canisius (July 2017). Pitching- Lefty sets up in the middle of the rubber with a simple side step and a mid-thigh leg raise. Breaks down well with good arm separation into a high ¾ release point. Utilizes whole body frame well during delivery with consistent mechanics. Has a strong finish getting himself into a proper fielding position. Fastball range was 74-76 MPH and peaked at 76 MPH and good arm side run. Curveball was 61-62 MPH with 12/6 action and a tight break. Change-up range was 63-64 MPH with arm side sink.

Offensively- Lefty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding the bat above the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. Utilizes good lower body rotation clearing his hips and using the whole-body frame in the process of the swing. Shows quick hands into the hitting zone with a level barrel path throughout into a high two-handed finish. Demonstrated good plate coverage with line drive ability up the middle and to the pull side. Clean, fluid swing with potential. Recorded an exit velocity of 83 MPH, a 4 MPH improvement from his previous best of 79 MPH recorded in February 2017. Defensively- Good approach and footwork off the bag at first. Fielding mechanics are clean with good footwork towards intended target. Moves well off the bag and can make the play coming off. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 76 MPH, just shy of his best mark of 77 MPH set in February 2017. Utilizes whole body frame well during delivery with consistent mechanics. Has a strong finish getting himself into a proper fielding position. Fastball range was 74-75 MPH and peaked at 76 MPH and good arm side run. Overall a talented 2019 grad class prospect coaches should keep an eye on.
Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)
Van Bramer stands at 6-foot, 175 pounds. Was clocked at 8.12 seconds in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- Begins with an open stance and feet slightly wider than his shoulders. Hands are just below height of back shoulder. Bat has small wiggle before load. Stride lands to even as hands load backwards. Has some weight transfer forward before swing becomes rotational. Hands are short to ball with strong extension through contact. Swing plane is slightly uphill with a high finish. Showed some pull side lift; had an exit velocity of 83 MPH off of the tee (up 4 MPH). Defensively- Moves well off of bag. Fields ball with hands under body and bent at waist. Feet are narrow on catch. Used a double shuffle on throws, and had a positional velocity of 77 MPH across the diamond, a 6 MPH increase of previous high. Pitching- Begins with feet close together with left foot in middle of rubber. Uses small side step to allow pivot onto rubber. Knee lift comes to shoulder height at balance point. Stride is long and lands in line with target. Arm gets behind body on back side. Hand comes through straight over the top from a high angle. Extends hand around front foot, cutting off delivery slightly. Fastball was in the 75-76 MPH range and did good job of locating pitch to glove side and keeping ball down. Showed a slow curveball with bigger break at 52-55 MPH and a changeup with good arm speed at 66-67 MPH.

Athletic actions at 1B. Pitching- Glove side setup working up to a mid chest leg drive with a slight bounce off his back leg on the way up before changing direction into landing. Stays closed; works through front knee vs. over. Arm action is across the belt line with a high 3/4 slot. Extension/follow through is limited. FB was 68-69 MPH with change up in the 57-62 MPH range.
