Luca Ferlenda (2028, SS/RHP, Jamesville-Dewitt, NY) is a 6-foot-1.5, 190.3-pound prospect. Ran a 7.3 60-yard dash. Recorded a peak jump height of 20 inches. Offensively, the hitter recorded a max exit velocity of 99 mph, average exit velocity of 89.8 mph and max distance of 355 feet. Defensively, threw 85 mph from the infield. On the mound, he featured a fastball that topped out at 85 mph (sitting 82-85 mph) with an average spin rate of 2172 rpm, curveball at 71-71 mph (2235 rpm) and cutter at 78-78 mph.
Physical: 5-8, 138 pounds; Athletic, lean build. 8.14 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a direct swing path with a two handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 77 MPH via Trackman.
Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; walks into ready position while showing active feet. Hands are off to the side with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 74 MPH.
Pitching: Uses a glove side setup while using an angled drop step. Mid chest leg drive with a slight lean over the belt. Has a moderate stride landing inline with the plate. Moderate arm swing while stabbing downward; standard 3/4 slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 75 MPH, while sitting 70-73 MPH; arm side run. CB: 58 MPH; early action. Showed good feel for the FB while still developing the breaking pitch.
