Omar is a 5-foot-10, 170 pound, SS who ran from home to first in 4.49. Offensively- Omar starts in a slightly open stance with his hands at ear height. His bat is at a 45 degree angle. He uses a small leg kick to get load his hands down to shoulder level and back. His bat comes to a 45 degree angle behind his head. Omar uses a powerful hip rotation /drive to hit the ball with an exit velocity of 80 MPH. His hands stay inside the ball and he extends them through the swing; mostly line drives results. Defensively- Omar starts in a relaxed infield position which allows him to get a quick first step. He approaches the ball fluently in all directions; tremendous hands which allow him to transfer the ball quickly. He does a nice of job of following his throw; which peaked at 77 MPH across the diamond. High athleticism up the middle.
New York Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Athletic; wiry build at 5-foot-10 170 pounds with fast twitch actions. Offensively- Quick stroke into the zone, fast wrists; line drive contact. Put together some quality at bats over the course of the event. Defensively- Saw time both at SS and in the OF; handles both well and with time in the OF, could develop into a front line defender. Soft hands; clean release; adequate arm on the infield.
