Campus Series - Canisius College (July 5, 2017)
Edwards stands in a 5-foot-10, 145-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Ran a 4.52 home to first, just shy of his previous best time of 4.42 set in July 2016. Offensively- Lefty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding the bat just above the back shoulder. On pitch, his trigger is a quick step forward while his hands move back slightly into a good hitting position. Has good lower body rotation getting whole body frame involved in swing. Shows quick hands into the hitting zone with a level barrel path throughout into a high two-handed finish. Demonstrated good plate coverage with the ability to drive the ball into the gaps. Could use a bigger trigger with the hands to generate more power, but overall a fluid swing. Recorded an exit velocity of 80 MPH, a 1 MPH improvement from July 2016. Defensively- Good approach and footwork getting to the baseball. Shows good fielding mechanics funneling the ball into the chest with a quick transition to the throwing position. Takes aggressive steps towards intended throwing target and was accurate with throws. Moves well left/right and in on the run. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 69 MPH.

WNY Prospect Preview (July 5, 2016)
Hitchens comes in at 5-foot-10, 145 pounds The 2B/OF/RHP ran home to 1B in 4.42. Offensively- Hitchens starts in a wide stance with his hands at ear level. He uses a small toe tap and a small load of his hands to get ready to hit. His hands drop slightly on his load and his bat angle is a little flat. He uses an aggressive hip rotation and drive of his lower half to attack the ball. His swing path is short with good extension on the back side. Exit velocity of 79 MPH; line drives/ground ball results. Defensively- Upright start with a controlled approach. Tends to field underneath on forehands; funneling back up through the body. When aggressive with approach; looked more comfortable. Arm strength peaked at 71 MPH. Pitching- On the mound, Hitchens begins with a wide base on the far left side of the mound. Moving smoothly into a high leg kick, about chest high before delivering with a ¾ arm slot. With a short stride, he extends his arm out nicely. However, falls too much to the 1B side. Fastball was his go to, with solid command. Mixing in a slow breaking curveball occasionally.
