July 2018

Athletic build at 5-foot-7 170 pounds with fast twitch actions; LHH sets up open with a short stroke, contact approach. Ideal table setter at the next level.

Positional Arm:

May 2018

From his leadoff position in the lineup, this week Kerley was 5  for 11, 2B, 3B, 2 HR, 4 R, 5 RBI, and 2 K. Kerley throws right and bats left and has fence clearing power to the pull side as demonstrated with two HRs against Homer, one in his first plate appearance of the game.  He demonstrated power to pull side from center field to extreme right.  A true lefty stick in the leadoff spot. The compact 5-foot-8 170 pound OF played CF and LF in his 3 games for Vestal this week.

May 2018

This compact 5-foot-8 170 pound OF played all 3 outfield positions in his 5 games for Vestal this week as well as DH.  Kerley throws right and bats left and has fence clearing power to the pull side. Hitting leadoff, this week Kerley was 10 for 16, 3 3B, 2 2B, 6 R, 8 RBI, 5 BB, and 1 K.  He continued to demonstrate power to both gaps. A true lefty stick in the leadoff spot.

April 2018

This compact 5-foot-8 170 pound OF played both LF and CF in Vestal’s 3 games and threw an inning of relief against SCC, striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced.  79 MPH FB, 66 CB. Kerley throws right and bats left and has fence clearing power to the pull side. Hitting leadoff, Kerley had some impressive drives in his first two games going 3 for 7 with a double to the right center gap and 3 fly outs all caught going away.  A true lefty stick in the leadoff spot.

East-West Battle (July 2017)

Athletic 5-foot-7 150 pound sparkplug. LHH with an open setup and middle of the field approach. High average potential at the next level.

NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)

Sturdy 5-foot-7, 150-pound outfielder, ran a 7.39/60. Offensively - left-handed batter, out of upright stance, brings the bat through the zone on a level path, full extension after contact for an exit velocity of 87 MPH, uses inner knee rotation to drive ball to middle third of the field, repeatable motion, counter rotation of lower and upper torso will produce increased power results.  Defensively  - confident, quick movements, makes sharp, angular cuts to ball path, smooth transfer, outfield velocity at 74 MPH.

Southern Tier Sluggers Workout

Kerley, a 2019 left-handed hitting outfielder, stands at 5-foot-7 and weighs 150 pounds, ran a 7.39 60. Offensively- Starts from an upright slightly open balanced base with the hands above the back shoulder and barrel of the bat 45-degrees from the ground. Gets to the launch phase of the swing with a moderate lift of the lead foot, striding forward towards the pitcher, while the hands use a buggy whip action with the barrel of the bat getting perpendicular to the ground with some wrap towards the pitcher. Showed the ability to keep the hands compact and connected to lower half during batting practice. Drove the ball well from the pull side line to the center of the field, driving the ball in the lower third of the zone well. Registered an impressive exit velocity of  85 MPH on the day. Defensively-  Approaches the ball with fluid movements maintaining quality body control. Fields the ball on the ground from the center to throwing side, not getting the ball consistently off the glove side causing a disconnect between the upper and lower half on throws. Showed good arm strength but needs to catch the ball and field the ball more to the glove side to keep the body more in sync. Throws would improve carry and velocity with a more efficient transfer which would help create more extension on the throws. Registered an arm velocity of 76 MPH on the day.
