Furmanski stands in at 5-foot-11, 168-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Ran a 5.0 home to first. Offensively- Sets up in a slightly closed off stance with his feet outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding the bat above the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a quick step forward while moving his hands back into the hitting position. Gets good lower body rotation clearing the hips and involving the whole body to get into the swing. Shows quick hands into the hitting zone with good upward lift barrel action into a mid-body one handed finish. Demonstrated good plate coverage with good pull side power during batting practice round. Recorded an exit velocity of 84 MPH. Defensively- Good footwork and approach getting in front of the baseball. Funnels into the chest well with a quick transition to the throwing position. Moves well left/right and in on the run creating accurate throws. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 77 MPH. Pitching- Starts in the middle of the rubber with a simple side step into a high leg lift above the hip crease. Breaks down well with good separation getting into a good throwing position when the front foot hits. Has a high ¾ release point with an effective follow through. Fastball sat 77-78 MPH and peaked at 79 MPH with some arm side run. Cutter had tight action and was accurate in the zone sitting at 76-78 MPH. Overall with continued development and added strength, will be a key player in the 2020 grad class to keep an eye on in the future.
