Werner, a 2020 right-handed hitting infielder, stands at 5-foot-0 and weighs pounds, ran a 4.70 from home to first. Offensively- Starts with a square lower half with a slight inward bend of both knees weight centered while the hands are in front of the back shoulder and barrel of the bat pointed towards the pitcher with a pre-pitch wiggle. Gets into the launch phase of the swing with a lift of the lead leg while the hands drive back outside the back shoulder with a slight lift. Drove the ball well from the pull side gap to the center of the field. Gets very good momentum and energy thru the ball, keeping the hands back behind the rotation of the hips, does not get cheated on any swing. Recorded an exit velocity of 60 MPH. Defensively- Smooth athletic movements to the ball, using short choppy steps to create hops and get the momentum moving to the left. Keeps the hands tight to the body, fielding the ball out in front of the body. Quick transfer from the center of the body, slightly below the chest, keeping the arm action short and in sync with the lower half. Throws showed quality accuracy and showed improve carry as size and strength are added. Recorded an arm velocity of 57 MPH on the day. Projects to play on the right-side at the the next level. Clean athletic movements, showing a good feel for the game.
