New York Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Stands 5-foot-10, 190-pounds with a solid linebacker like build with a thick durable lower half. He ran a 7.18 60. Offensively- At the plate sets up balanced and stays simple and direct through the zone. Exit speed was  85-mph. Power should continue to increase as he's got naturally strong hands and powerful lower half. Defensively- Shows above average release and arm strength popping as low as 1.93 (2.03 today) to second and showed consistent accuracy throwing multiple guys out during the NY Games. Overall he's shown great gains in the past year with increased bat speed as well as velocity from behind the dish from 70-mph to 75-mph.
Preseason All-State (February 28, 2016)
Hattala stands 5-foot-10, 185-pounds with a thick athletic frame and powerful lower half. Offensively- Sets up with a wide base and uses a small stride, good separation of the hands upon load and drives through his lower half well. Exit speed has been up to 86-mph.  Defensively- Troy is a big solid target to throw to.  Hips have gotten a lot looser in the past year since we saw him last summer. Continues to pop anywhere from a 1.93-2.1 consistently. Hattala has continued to impress over the past year and looks to be one of the most versatile and athletic backstops in our state.
WNY All-Star Games (August 27, 2015)
Troy stands at 5-foot-9, 175 pounds, with a strong, athletic build.  He ran a 4.55 Home to 1st from the right-hand side.  Defensively- As a catcher, he receives the ball with smooth, soft hands and has a clean transfer.  His arm was very accurate to second base.  He blocks the ball nicely and keeps everything in front of him.  His pop times improved and were consistently at 1.93 down to second base.  His arm strength was at 70 MPH.  At the plate setup is relaxed and balanced, short stride, with a back load.  He has a very short path to the ball, level plane, with a mid-section finish, with extension through the ball.  His exit velocity was 79 MPH.
New York Games (July 7-9, 2015)
Troy checks in at 5-foot-9, 175 pounds, with an athletic body build.  Defensively- Troy was a catcher who throws with cut off and after the throw recoils.  He receives the ball with smooth, soft hands and has a clean transfer.  Offensively- At the plate setup is relaxed and balanced, short stride, with a back load.  His path to the ball is short, level plane, with a mid-section finish.

Preseason All-State (February 15, 2015)

Hattala stands a stocky 5-foot-9, 175-pounds with a strong frame. Offensively- At the plate he starts relaxed, hands high. On the pitch he loads back, short stride. Path is short to the ball, barrel slightly uphill, some extension, rolls over on front side after contact, shoulder height finish. Defensively- Behind the plate he receives the ball with an open stance, target down. Clean exchange on his throws to second, high-3/4 slot; 2.0 pop time to second. Ran a 7.45 60 yard dash.
Western NY Combine (January 3, 2015)
Hattala stands 5-foot-9, 175-pounds with a sturdy build. He shows a lot of upside both behind the dish and at the plate. Defensively- As a young sophomore he’s got the build of a well put together senior in high school.  We can see he relies on a naturally strong arm right now and needs to learn to finish through his throws a little more with his body.  With good blocking/receiving mechanics though he’s going to be a next level catching prospect by his junior year. Offensively- At the plate he showed power potential that hasn’t been harnessed yet.  With a very strong lower body, he relies on his upper body to do most of the work.  He starts with a balanced lower half and quiet hands, stays nice and short to the ball but could finish through it a little longer.  Has a good idea at the plate and consistently barrels the ball up.  If this kid puts in the necessary work he’s going to turn a lot of heads in only his sophomore summer this year.
