Preseason - Downstate (February 21, 2018)
Luciano ran a 7.64-60 yard dash on lasers, was 75-MPH arm strength (73-MPH behind the plate) and was 79-MPH exit velocity.  At the plate, uses an upright approach with a wide stance & loose hands out in front of head.  On the pitch he loads back with toe tap and stride for timing.  Fluid barrel plane with a long finish.  At the catching position, receives from a narrow base & uses soft hands.  Quick glove to hand transfer, releases the ball from a high short arm action with a 2.09 pop time.  Defensively at the middle infield position shows sound fielding mechanics, fluid through entirety of process & releases the ball from a high 3/4- slot.
Last Chance Preview (November 18, 2017)
Luciano is an athletic 5-foot-11 165 pound C/SS. Luciano ran a 7.28 60. Runs upright with little to no forward lean. Could potentially improve time if he ran more compact. Offensively- Starts with his feet slightly over shoulder width apart with small forward bend at the waist. Bat position is upright/tipped towards his back at a 75 degree angle with pre-pitch bat wiggle. Slight coil while bat drops to 30 degree angle with average front foot stride into contact. Levels swing through zone with exit velocity of 76 MPH. Line drive/fly ball results. Long sweeping bat finish. Rolls front ankle after contact and outside of shoe touches the ground as if compensating for balance. Defensively- Receives from a balanced position behind the plate. Arm strength behind the plate was 73 MPH with his pop time ranging from 2.06-2.11. Efficient glove to hand transfer on throws and should be able to cut time down as his arm strength increases. Looks like he has room for improvement and could be a sneaky player as he fills out.
Fall 2017
Raw athletic ability at a wiry/strong 5-foot-11 150 pounds Last two throw downs were both 2.08 on the bag with easy carry. Flashed some bat speed during BP. Ran a 7.46 60. Intriguing athlete, that with some polish, could really stand out.
