Futures Showcase (February 28, 2015)
Malek stands 5-foot-7, 143-pounds.  At the plate he has an even balanced stance, with his hands should height.  Hands get back quickly with short stride on the pitch. Has a slight pause before his swing starts.  Quick hips allow him to power the bat through the zone. Level bat path with some lift after contact, Occasionally pulls off the ball.  Hands finish at shoulder height.  Showed a (71mph) exit velocity.  In the field he starts with his glove palm up and out in front.  Fields ground balls deep inside his stance.  Showed good side to side movement with average footwork.  Should work on staying lower in his shuffle.  Throws from a low 3/4 arm angle.  (68mph) from the hole.  On the mound he starts with his hands high.  Used a side step to get to balance point.  High swinging leg kick.  Uses tall to fall method.  Flies open slightly during stride.  Good extension out over his front foot.  Showed good arm strength (73mph) fb, with a mid to low 3/4 arm slot.
