Last Chance Preview (October 14, 2017)
Gallagher stands in at 5-foot-2, 115-pounds with a lean frame. Ran a 9.75 – 60. Offensively- - Righty sets up in an open stance with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding his hands above the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a knee raise to stride forward squaring up to the pitcher while his hands move back slightly into his hitting position. Long hands to the hitting zone with level barrel path into a high two handed finish. Will improve with more strength and reps. Could be more aggressive with rotation on the lower half getting more lower body involved. Demonstrated ability to hit line drives up the middle and pull slide during batting practice round. Recorded an exit velocity of 59 MPH. Defensively- Good approach and footwork to baseball. Could be quicker with transition from catch to the throw. Gains good ground during the process of the throw with appropriate outfielder arm action. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 53 MPH. Pitching- Sets up in the middle of the rubber with amid-thigh leg raise. Breaks down well with a high ¾ release point. Smooth with his delivery utilizing his whole body throughout the process of the pitching motion. Will only get better and stronger. Fastball range was 56-58 MPH and peaked at 58 MPH showing arm side run. Curveball was 51-53 MPH with 12/6 action. Overall will improve with more reps and added strength.
