2/10/19
On a day where the best of the best were showing elite tools, the highest overall graded tool went to Defiance’s Blayne Robinson for his raw power. The Louisville commit put on a show in batting practice, dropping moonshot after moonshot all over the field. It was just a BP but it was the loudest BP we’ve seen in a quite a while. The lefty bat has a lot MLB scouts like at 6-5 and the ability to generate such easy, legitimate raw power. For what it’s worth, Robinson also showed big jumps on the mound, running it up to 88 mph with more than playable secondary offerings.

2/10/19 Pitching
6-foot-5 215-pound projectable left-handed pitcher. Robinson starts with a fluid and rhythmic delivery before showing some explosiveness through release. He worked in line and showed the ability to repeat the delivery. At 86-88 mph the fastball jumps out of the hand. The pitch was mostly straight while working on a downward plane and showed occasional cutting action when thrown glove side. Paired the fastball with a 1/7 breaking ball with good spin at 72-73 mph. The pitch showed early at times but has potential to develop into a future out pitch. Also flashed a 74-77 mph changeup that flashed some late fade at times.

2/11/18

While it was just BP, it’s hard to imagine 2019 1B Robinson (Defiance HS) didn’t grab the attention of pro scouts in attendance. The Louisville recruit stands 6-foot-5, 215-pounds and still has room to add even more strength. His length allows him to be simple with lower half, creating leverage from angles rather than momentum. His hands are well timed and staying very loose until launch, whipping the barrel through the zone with authority. He showcased big time juice, especially to pull side. Robinson possesses the biggest upside of any bat in attendance, regardless of position.
